Reader blogs: what keeps you coming back?

I've seen a few posts over the last few weeks from readers that talk about changing their blog, or defining what direction they are going with their blog, and it got me thinking about my own blog. This place continues slowly to evolve, and mostly I've managed to keep it my own. But at the same time, I don't want to set any parameters on how I run this place. One day I might have an author, and another a favorite hottie. The next a more serious topic. Or the awesome guest blogger interviews. And hopefully a review here and there. But I don't want a specific purpose for my blog, other than it be about things I care about.
I notice I tend to be really hard on myself because I don't read as much as other bloggers, and I have to stop from comparing myself to others. Why do I do this to myself? It shouldn't matter. I'm a different person, so my personal expectations should only pertain to me, right? And that is what I'm determined to do. Make this a cozy little place that I can live with, and not worry what the Jones are up to. Because at the end of the day, it's my place, no one else's.
When I think about it more indepth, I realize I do want to also have more serious topics. I have some ideas in mind, I just need to organize my thoughts and write them in a clear, understandable, somewhat intelligent way. Wish me luck *g*
And I'm curious about other bloggers and their visitors, so you know what that means: Last week I asked you what you look for in an author website/blog. This week I want to know:
What makes you visit reader blogs? What are some of your favorite reader blogs? What don't you like about reader blogs?

They say that former teen rebel Lucky Romo has a dark, secret past—that he’s trouble with a capital “T.” Still, Tessa feels all tingly when she sees how well he fills out a pair of tight jeans. Monday, August 30, 2010:
Maybe it's because it's Monday, or maybe because it's supposed to be in the 90's today, but I was thinking I felt in the mood for a little pick-me-up today. Whatever the reason, I felt drawn to this image. I needed something stimulating to get me going today.
This picture does just that. It's both incredibly sensual and sexy, ripe with tension and anticipation. And what makes it even hotter is that you use your own imagination to fantasize what happens next, whether he takes her up against the wall or perhaps gives her a slow, thorough massage first.
But what I might find sexy, you may not. Maybe you like to leave things to your imagination, or maybe you like explicit, raw, dirty goodness. Doesn't really matter. My point is, we all find different things sexy. Some prefer a subtle, barely there suggestion, while others crave the very public, very raunchy, smutty seduction. It's one of the things that makes us unique - and that is what excites us. None of it's wrong. We're not deviants who should feel guilty for what turns us on.
The reason I even bring this up is because on my beloved Twitter, there is a lot of talk - and viewing - that can certainly be considered improper. Not wrong - I don't think there's anything wrong with being improper from time to time, but lecherous, racy, lustful, suggestive, and yes, even vulgar. For the most part, I don't have a problem with it, but there are some images that I feel are there more for the shock value and don't do a thing for me. I choose to ignore them. But I'm sure there are others out there who are horrified with these images, and some of the conversations, and I have to wonder when is it too much?
As far as I know, Twitter is not promoted as a "family friendly" forum. It's pretty much anything goes. One of the reasons to love it, but also one of the reasons to hate it. Am I wagging a disapproving finger at those who post these pictures? No, not at all. But I do think that there should be clearer indicators of exactly what it is you're posting before it's viewed by the objecting and/or too young eyes. And yes I know, I've seen some things that have made me want to bleach my eyes, but that was my own damn fault. When people warn me not to look, well dammit, I wanna look!
So what I want to know is this:
How do you feel about explicit pictures or links to said pics posted on Twitter? Should they be clearly labeled? And just how much is TOO much? Labels: sexy

Thing is, I tend to usually let the deadline slide, so this time I will just be the bad guy. Sorry :( I know that's pretty unfair of me. 99.9% of the time I honor my contests, so I'll just go forward with the disclaimer that I'm not perfect and being 2 people has been confusing. I will definitely try to do better. Don't hate me! Labels: winner

Okay! Well I had intended to have something else post today, but I am quite hungover today (which is extremely rare for me) so I didn't write up my blog. I thought I'd do a roundup of sorts instead:
Shiloh Walker wrote an excellent post earlier this week about social media and how many authors, especially newer ones, are doing it wrong. I wholeheartedly agree with her post, and if you haven't gotten a chance to read it, here it is. Believe me, she nailed it.
You still have a chance to win a copy of K.T. Grant's For The Love of Mollie. Just go here.
My favorite martini bar is closing on Saturday, and I just found out last night, hence the overindulging. Nobody makes a Bella rose martini quite like this place. So sad to see it close :(
Thank YOU for all the feedback about authors and websites and whatyouwhatyouwhat you want (sorry, that song is playing in my head, and it hurts). I haven't gotten a chance to read all the comments, but I fully intend to review them and pass them along. You guys are great :)
If you guys haven't tried Groupon, I highly recommend it. I got a $55 gift certificate for about $20 to my favorite martini bar, and we used it last night, so it was totally worth it. I didn't have to pay anything to join, and it works. There's also Living Social Deals and Buy With Me. I haven't tried them yet, but it's the same concept. Love it.
Well that's all for now. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Have a good one, and beware those sweet devil martinis.... Labels: ramblings

Question: What do you look for in an author's website/blog?
(posted with boss permission *g*)
In my new role as an author's assistant, I've found myself really taking my job perhaps too seriously. Because not only am a huge fan of my author and want her to do well, I can also see it from the reader POV, and so I want to give readers what they want...within reason of course.
It's a fun part-time job, and I'm having a blast learning new things.Since working with her, she and I have had conversations, and Erin would also like to have more of a presence online, so you may see her in some familiar places. Though she tries to spend as much time as she can writing, she also wants readers to know how much she appreciates them, so she's dipping her toes in, and I've hopefully given her some good idea of where she might want to "hang out". Some sites you can currently find Erin: I know this question gets asked a lot, but before, it never meant anything other than what my expectations are. So I want to hear what you want out the author/reader relationship.
What I really want to know, from you as readers, is what you look for in an author and their website: What are your expectations of an author's site? Do you like blogs? How do you feel about social networking? Should authors have more or less of any online presence?
Feel free to add anything else that comes to mind. I appreciate any and all feedback you can provide. This will give me a good idea of the pulse of what readers are looking for and I will pass it along to Erin. And please, be honest. That's why I'm asking - to get some insight into what readers like you want :) Labels: authors, websites

Another awesome Chloe Neill signing
Once again I would like to thank the booksigning gods for being fortunate to live in an area where I can attend these awesome signings. The cool and always interesting Chloe Neill was in Wisconsin this past weekend, and I definitely made it a point of going to at least one of them.
Isn't Chloe just the cutest thing?
Chloe brought the THB, but unfortunately he wasn't talking. Thought maybe we could bribe him for some dirt, but he held strong. Not that we really tried very hard. I'm sure it's overwhelming to be surrounded by a bunch of (mostly) women gushing over the superior skills of Ethan and the smokin' hotness of Catcher. Not that THB has anything to worry about *g*
And though she didn't dish much dirt about the Chicagoland Vampires, Chloe did give us interesting tidbits about how she writes and reassuring us again that she's contacted for 3 more books, for a total of 7! So thrilled to hear this.
Me & Chloe (I'm always a blur LOL) For those of you who don't know, Chloe also writes a YA paranormal series called "The Dark Elite", and Hexbound, book 2 is scheduled for a January 2011 release. Thank you Chloe, for a fun booksigning, and I hope that one day we can get you to a signing in Chicago, where you belong!

me, my cousin Mary, my sister Sina & my niece Maraea
It's Losa time! God, this girl is a total sweetheart (and look at all that gorgeous hair!), and I'm excited to have her as my guest today. I love her enthusiasm for books and her darling George *g* And it sounds like she is following her heart and doing what she loves to do. So awesome. Twitter has introduced me to some of the coolest people on the planet. Here is one now.... Feel free to tell us about yourself: name, background, ets. Are you a reader/blogger/writer? Hello Stacy! Thank you so much for having me hun! You are very sweet and are an absolute gem! It's great to meet, know & learn alot about others through your blog!
My name is Losa. I have a Samoan background. Born in New Zealand, I've lived most of my life in Australia & this is where I call home now. I love it here! I come from a family of 6. I work with my sister as a Cook/Kitchen Hand/Waitress at a Retirement Village for the elderly. I've always had a passion for working in the kitchen & working with the elderly. So to combine the two & to work with my sister is a dream job for me. My interests include reading, writing, eating, cooking, movies, going out to dinner, shopping, travelling, Twitter, but most of all, hanging out with my family & friends :-)
Do you have a blog? What is the name/link and how would you describe your blog? I dont have a blog as of yet. Im still working on one. But you can find me on Goodreads too. However I do love to blog hop & see what others are blogging, reading, writing, etc. Everyone is different & unique so I love to read up on them & what they have to say :-)
What book(s) are you currently reading? Would you recommend it?
I am currently reading "Taste of passion" by Brenda Jackson. Its a hot love story about a woman, brokenhearted from a previous relationship who has moved back to her hometown, get her life back on track by creating her own business & start up a hot & passionate love affair with a sexy cowboy she somewhat had feelings for years ago, and to rediscover just what they've been missing out on. (They have alot of catching up to do! *wink*) So if you love hot sexy cowboys like me I highly recommend it! I have also just started reading "Something naughty something nice" by Kimberly Raye. And with a title like that it's definitely a hot & sexy read! *wink*
What is your most anticipated soon to be released book?
My anticipated soon to be released book is definitely "Lover Unleashed" by J. R. Ward. As a huge BDB fan I cant wait to get my hands on this one! Also "Invincible" by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I love the Dark Hunters & cant wait to read more about Nick & see what else what happens. Also I anticipate any new releases from Cheyenne McCray & Karen Kelly. They're my two other favourite authors whom I love with a passion. I highly recommend them!
What's playing nonstop on your iPod rotation right now?
I love a variety of music so I have an open ear for all kinds. Some of my favourites are 2pac, UB40, Dr Hook, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Linkin Park, Nickelback & New Edition. I also love 70's classics (like Boney M, Doobie Brothers), 80's pop (Five Star, New Kids On The Block), 90's Dance/RnB/Rap (Snap, Technotronics, TLC, Jodeci, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Nelly) My ears are always open to any kind of music!
What are your favourite places to visit online?
My favourite places to visit online are of course: Twitter! I luv all the Twitter peeps! [We love you too1] It's great to meet & chat with all of them! Also Goodreads. I love meeting/chatting with other readers & seeing what everyone is reading & also seeing their book reviews & book discussions.
What are some of your favourite things: beverage? food? t.v. show? last good movie you saw? Beverage: Coffee/Iced Coffee/Coke - I definitely have an addiction to these! And Grey Goose to chill for a relaxing drink. Thanks to V for advertising that throughout the BDB, he made me curious to try it & I love it!
Food: I love eating & Im open to try all kinds of foods! I especially love my sisters cooking. Shes an amazing cook & can create a miracle out of food!
I also love pizza & chocolate. Definitely another addiction for me!
Being true to my Samoan roots, I love Samoan food like taro, green bananas & yams in coconut cream, coconut buns, corned beef, chop suey, etc. It all takes me back to the islands! Tv show: I absolutely love "The Office!" Michael Scott & the gang always crack me up! Sometimes I pop this on when I need cheering up & need a good laugh! I also love watching "Tabitha's Salon Takeover" & "Pineapple Dance Studios". Very entertaining stuff!
Last good movie I saw: The last good movie I saw was Toy Story 3. Im a kid at heart & this movie was amazing! There were some emotional parts in the film where it tugged at my heart & I found myself in tears. It was a very happy & heartwarming movie. I highly recommend it! Which hottie out there is to die for?
There are definitely alot of hotties out there. I've always had a thing for 2pac. I adore him. Also Reggie Bush. His abs & smile take my breath away..lol - But you can't say hotties without mentioning of course, my ultimate favourite bbf's: Asheron, Vishous, Zsadist, Zack & Mace. All hotties in my opinion!
Favourite restaurant? I don't have a favourite restaurant as I love going out to different places & trying different foods with my sister, brother & niece. But of course, nothing beats a home cooked meal to enjoy with your family at home.
What is your idea of a romantic gesture from your sweetie?
Well unfortunately I don't have a sweetie to share any romantic gestures with, however if I did, cooking me a nice, quiet romantic dinner would be heaven! But for me, my idea of a romantic gesture to my sweetie, I would love to bake some home baked goodies, visit him & surprise him like Little Red Riding Hood! Sweet surprises are always best! *wink*
What would people be surprised to learn about you? About me, people would be surprised to learn that although I can be shy & quiet at times, if you get to know me I can be the biggest idiot ever..lol - I love to laugh & enjoy making people laugh & smile. I have an open mind & open heart to everyone & everything. I believe that everyone should be given a chance. We all have our own opinions. We're all unique & special in our own way. Thats what makes us want to get to know each other! Let's share the love people! *big beautiful hugs*
Thank you once again Stacy for having me! Its been an absolute blast & I've enjoyed every minute of it! *big hugs*
I don't know about you, but I know want to hop on a plane and Australia even more than ever. And right now I have such a taste for Samoan food....
Thank you Losa, for visiting today and sharing your interesting corner of the world. It was a treat having you here :) I'm glad I was able to "share" you with everyone that visits. Have a great weekend!

Win a personalized signed copy of Chloe Neill's "Twice Bitten"!
Upcoming Chloe Neill booksignings:
One of my favorite authors, Chloe Neill, is having multiple booksignings this weekend in Wisconsin. I'm lucky enough to be able to attend all 3 if I really wanted to (and believe me, I'm considering it!). So I thought I would have a contest for a pesonally signed copy of Twice Bitten, the 3rd book in Chloe's Chicagoland Vampires series.
In order to qualify, you have to 2 things:
You are a follower of my blog via Google Friend Connect (see left-hand side of blog)
You correctly respond to the contest question
Contest will end at 10am CST on Saturday, August 21st. Please be sure in your comment the name you would like Chloe to sign it (i.e. Julie, Karen, Kim, etc.). If possible, I would also ask that you check back here on Saturday between noon & 2pm CST, just to make sure you know you're getting the book, but due to time constraints, I completely understand so it's not a requirement. Question: Merit has a lot of new abilities as a vampire. Which of her abilities would you wish for most and why? Good luck! Labels: blog contests, Chloe Neill

Walk down memory lane: "Nothing's Forgotten. Nothing is ever forgotten..."
I originally wrote this post several months ago, maybe even a year or so ago, but I never finished it. Now, as I'm struggling for posts due to time constraints, I found this draft, and decided to tweak it a bit. Here is my small tribute to a show I obsessed over when I was a teenager, and one I remember quite fondly today :)
My infatuation with Robin Hood and how it all started: I'd read books and seen movies over the years of course, but it wasn't until I saw "Robin Hood and the Sorcerer", the double-length first episode of "Robin of Sherwood", a short-lived British series which first aired in the U.S. on Showtime, when I was around 12 or 13 years old, that I was completely enthralled anew by the legend, especially this version of it. Having already read several romance by this time, nothing could have been more appealing than this mystical, gritty version starring the swoon-worthy Michael Praed, who was only twenty-two at the time he played the part.
In this first episode, Robin of Loxley is trying to save Much, the Miller's son, from being caught poaching, and is instead caught by Guy of Gisburne and thrown into the dungeon, where he ends up meeting Will Scarlett (played by Ray Winstone, who incidentally was in "King Arthur" 20 years later), whose wife had been raped and killed by Guy's men. Robin and the other outlaws escape, and Robin is soon chosen by Herne the Hunter to be a protector of the English people, becoming the hero we know as Robin of the Hood. When he first encounters Marian of Leaford, he is immediately drawn to her, yet his intensity at first seems to scare her off. But Marian turns out to be no shrinking violet; her delicate beauty hides an independent streak that soon has her running off with Robin to join him and his men in the forest. Capable of handling a sword and outshooting any man save Robin, Marian is a force to be reckoned with in her own right. Her useful skill as a spy had her risking her life to bring information from the castle into the forest. Of course by this time, they have fallen madly in love, and along with the other outlaws, risk their lives trying to fight for the poor while they do everything in their power to outwit the Sheriff and Guy. And the rest, as they say, is history...

I was at that perfect impressionable age to totally fall in love with Robin, and Michael Praed played the perfectly dreamy Robin quite perfectly. There was always a sadness to him, a longing inside for something that could never be: an idyllic world where good people had long, happy lives and that innocents would never be hurt, children would never die, and he could live in peace and comfort with his lady love. But part of the romance of the legend is the tragedy. I mean how interesting would his adventures be if he was never in any real danger? Robin Hood was the ultimate romantic hero, and rarely captured more perfectly than in the dark, intense, passionate portrayal by the beautiful Michael Praed.

And of course I would be extremely remiss if I did not mention the haunting music from the Celtic group Clannad, who released the soundtrack for the movie entitled "Legend". It's one of my all-time favorites, so bittersweet and poignant.

Keith Urban, Fur Con and this guy named Terrible...
I gotta admit that I had a fantasic weekend! I wish they all could be this fun. But if they were, we probably wouldn't appreciate them as much, now would we?
First, I took Friday off to drive the 3 hours and 42 minutes Mapquest says it takes to get to Indianapolis, which I'm fairly used to since it's the same way I take to Cincinnati every June. I both love and hate the drive. I hate it because traffic out of Chicago, especially on a Friday, just sucks. And I have to get there like yesterday. I'm sure I've said it before, but I am one of those crazy drivers that tailgates and races past you if you get in my way. Sorry dude, but you asked for it. So yeah, I shaved about 1/2 hour off my time. Could have been more, but those damn semi trucks are EVOL.
Anyway, once I got there, I met Barb there at the hotel, and we learned what other "big" event was going on in town. A little thing called Fur Con, or more specifically, the Indy Fur Con. This seems to be at least an annual event, and it's, well, rather different. I asked a group of them what exactly it was all about, and one of them said it's about being people with animal (anthropomorphic) characteristics. It seems rather tame, considering that they were parading around the hotel, quite literally had a parade on Saturday in the lobby, however several people confirmed it's also considered a sex fetish, and there were times they would sit in clusters and pet each other. Yes, in public. I don't know what to make of it all, other than to say it was rather bizarre. I'm all for people living their own lives, but some of this might be a little too open in public. o_O Still, it was cute when they would pose with the kids, just like they were at Disney or something. That was sweet. But the big attraction of my weekend was KEITH URBAN! Now I've been a fan for years, but this was the first time going to one of his concerts. For the price we paid, I figured we'd see him being about the size of a speck of sand, but they weren't bad seats at all. Row 37 in the stands, dead center. Not too shabby. It was at the Indiana state fair, and it was HOT. I was dripping, that's how humid and crowded we all were. Yet I was there with my pals Barb, LuAnn, Dianne Daphne and Deb, and we survived. And you know what, that's okay. Because Keith put on one HELL of a show. He was fantastic. Loved every minute of it. And I especially got a kick out of how he'd have us sing some silly verse and just start laughing because we'd do it. He was like a little kid. So cute :) He did "talk" to Nicole, who supposedly was on the sidelines, but we didn't actually see her. That would have been cool. I do like them together.
He didn't play my favorite song, "Once In a Lifetime (Love)", but the rest were outstanding. And his band is extremely talented as well, with at least two of them able to belt out a tune. I can't wait to go see him again. I'm not normally big on getting t-shirts at concerts, but I went and got me a Keith t-shirt. Just couldn't help myself LOL.
Other than that, my only other news is that I am incredibly hooked, addicted, completely and irrevocably in love with this character named Terrible!
For those of you in the dark, Terrible is this guy in Stacia Kane's DOWNSIDE GHOSTS series. Now I read all the tweets on Twitter, and say all the mushy talk and longing for this guy, but I didn't think it could possibly be all that great. Boy was I ever WRONG! Terrible is so not your typical hero. He's quite ugly (at least that's how Stacia writes him), big, hulking, terrifying. But then, like Chess, you really get to know him and it's his heart you fall for, and his looks are no longer ugly to you. He's loyal, fearless, earthy, practical, clever, and so damn strong it makes your heart race. Or as Shiloh Walker would say, "he's one sexy beast". And he truly is. He's a hero, through and through. An unlikely one, but also an unforgettable one.
I'm not ashamed to admit I've got Terrible fever. In fact I'll probably need to get a new set of books because I've re-read so many parts of these 3 already. Numerous times. I will probably got and write a review on the series at some point, once I can put them down long enough to actually write something coherent. So for now I'll wallow in my Terrible love, and give sincere thanks to that creative goddess Stacia who created this magnificent man to begin with!

What I'm watching: The Bad Seed (1956)
From Amazon.com:
"A basket full of kisses for a basket full of hugs."
Those are chilling words, at least when uttered by that ice princess, Patty McCormack. As Rhoda Penmark, she is as pretty as a porcelain doll but drips venom with each curtsey and polite response. Little Rhoda's mother is terrified she has passed on her own mother's corruption. Oops, turns out she's right. This passes the test of time, as it still gets under your skin. The character development is tight and the story very involving. Not even Freddy Krueger had the ability to scare like tiny McCormack, looking just like a little adult while she literally beats out the competition for a penmanship award.
However, director Mervyn LeRoy's hands were tied over the ending, which was changed from the source material--Maxwell Anderson's hit Broadway play. A supposedly more appropriate, and moral, ending was demanded by the studio. This was remade (badly) in 1985. --Rochelle O'Gorman
This was the first time I'd seen this movie. A friend of mine bought it - she hadn't seen it either - and told me I just had to see it, that it was incredibly creepy. So I borrowed it from her because I was in the mood for a sufficiently creepy movie. Maybe it was just the mood I was in, but I didn't think it was all that big of a deal. The music was rather melodramatic (at times it reminded me of The Wizard of Oz) and I found myself laughing quite often. I mean, I understood why it was supposed to be so horrifying back in the day, but I found it more comedic. Still, little Rhoda is rather disturbed. I found her to be one messed up kid, yet what's fascinating is that there's really no one distinctive reason for her behavior. She just seems to have been born that way. And that's the kinda thing that gives me chills. That's why stuff like that is scarier than any horror movie monster could ever be. Some people are just born evil, and that's what makes Rhoda so chilling. Underneath those perfect pigtails and little dresses is a monster. I'm not going to give anything away, but let's just say, she gets hers in the end. Now I'm going to go and find the book by William March.... Have you seen The Bad Seed?
What did you think of it? Labels: movies

Friday, August 13, 2010:
Today is all about Mar here at my place. Mar is a newer friend, and we probably haven't chatted as much as some of the other people over on Twitter, but I think she's a doll, and wanted to have her visit with y'all so you could see for yourself. She posts cute pics of her kids and her new little furbaby, and I am a sucker for kids and puppies, so right then and there she won me over. And I'm really excited today to get to know a bit more about this one hot chica :D Stacy: Feel free to tell us about yourself: name, background, etc. Are you a reader/blogger/writer?
My name is Mariselle but you know me as Mar. Most people butcher my name, so I just cut it down to save them from their minds exploding into hot lava. I also have a nickname that my baby sister gave me, I’m known to my family as Lulu. I was born in Puerto Rico but moved to Florida at the age of 8 and I’ve been here ever since. My husband is a firefighter and we will be married ten years this coming October. By the ridiculous amounts of photos I post on Twitter, you already know I’m a Mama to a boy (Big Lu), a girl (Oli) and also two doggies, Daisy and Matilda. I work for a software company (think Office Space) that keeps me enslaved in a cube for 40 hours a week, where I Twitter my ass off to keep my sanity. :) I am very productive. Unlike most of the girls you’ve had on here, I am not a blogger unless you count blog-stalking as an activity. I am however a reader, which is how you and I connected. I love LOOOOVE to read paranormal, erotic and contemporary romance.
Do you have a blog? What is the name/link and how would you describe your blog?

N/A
What book(s) are you currently reading? Would you recommend it?
I just finished Sin Undone by Larissa Ione. Do I recommend it would probably be the understatement of the year. This was by far, one of her hottest books yet and I am in complete love with Con. If you have not read the Demonica series, seriously you are crazy.
What is your most anticipated soon to be released book?
This one cannot come soon enough, the next book in the BDB series, Lover Unleashed. Love me some Brothers, true? [True that!]
What's playing nonstop on your iPod rotation right now?
Will I be stoned if I say I don’t own an iPod?
What are your favorite places to visit online?
Twitter (NO WAY GET OUT, REALLY?) Amazon.com, Facebook because if I don’t post photos of my kids, my family will revolt, DSW (Shoooes!), IMDB, Tumblr #smutclub, Rain Roof (thanks KC!), Perez Hilton, Dooce and many, many book blogs of course. Goodreads because it’s a great place to keep up with what everyone is reading and what they thought on a book.
What are some of your favorite things: beverage? food? t.v. show?
Beer. I love beer, I’m not gonna lie. And wine. And diet coke. And COFFEE! I’ve been drinking coffee since I was a little kid and to take that away from me would cause severe withdrawals, so no thanks I’m keeping my caffeine, thank you very much. My favorite food? Where do I even start with that since I eat everything….except mushrooms, yuckkk! But give me Spanish food, I don’t care if it’s Puerto Rican, Cuban, Mexican, it is all good. I also love Italian food…carbs anyone? Favorite TV show…right now, it will have to be Trueblood. I also like CSI Vegas, Law Order SVU, Cougar Town, Modern Family and Biggest Loser. Which hottie out there is to die for?I have always had a thing for this man, Oded Fher but really can you blame me? Just look at his lips, I think I can tuck myself in at night with the bottom one alone. To say that I love him would be like asking if the ocean is blue. Sigh. Also like everyone else, I adore Joe Manganiello but have you ever taken a good look at Theo Alexander (Talbot)…? Behold the beauty that is him. *sigh* Favorite restaurant?Olive Garden, breadsticks! Bahama Breeze, Tostones con Pollo! Hooters…I don’t give a s*** if there are girls with their booties hanging out, those wings are da’bomb! What is your idea of a romantic gesture from your sweetie?
Sometimes when I’m super busy and have no time to go get a pedi, my husband offers to do it for me and who am’ I to refuse. It actually started back when I was pregs with my Son and I could hardly see my feet that he offered and ever since then, it’s just been a thang. It’s rather cute seeing a big macho-man concentrating on holding a bottle of OPI That’s Hot! Pink, while polishing your toes. What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Now, I know this is hard to believe but I’m rather quiet at first when you meet me but then if you stick around, it’s all downhill from there. Be warned. When I was 19 I volunteered as the mascot for one of our local hospitals, where I had to dress up in this HUGE teddy bear costume and visit the pediatric floor. The kids loved it and seeing their expressions when I came through their rooms was very satisfying and sometimes a little bit sad but so worth sweating my butt off in that giant bear costume. Although I make up crazy words around my kids to prevent repetition, according to my husband I curse worse than the guys at his fire station. I am a big sap meaning I cry for anything, tv shows, movies, commercials, magazine articles, books…I can keep going but by this time you are probably calling me a big wuss so I will stop. And lastly, I love to dance and be silly with my kids because in their eyes, I am the coolest person in the entire universe. And that’s really all I give a s, I mean care about it.
Well I don't know about all of you, but I feel cooler for just reading that and seeing what an awesome person Mar is. Adore your hubs gives you pedis. Lucky woman! Thanx for being here today, Mar. And I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend. I intend to :) Labels: online friends, spotlight

Thursday, August 12, 2010:
SPECIAL GUEST: Author KT Grant!
I am beyond thrilled to have visiting the blog today my very special guest and friend - KT Grant - because she's someone I've known for quite sometime as a reader and a blogger, and I really admire her for her fearless opinions and endless quest for knowledge. She's not afraid to ask questions and talk about uncomfortable subjects to get a much needed dialogue doing. KT is smart and funny and I am so happy that in pursuing her dream, she's now become a published writer. I am SO proud of her! Let's give KT a warm welcome :) KT Grant has generously offered me a copy of her release FOR THE LOVE OF MOLLIE, which though it kills me, I've decided I will offer up as a prize to one lucky winner. All you have to do is answer the question KT posted below. Winner will be selected at 7pm CST on Friday, August 27th. Who Do You See As You Read?
Are you the type of reader who likes to place your favorite celebrities in the characters you read about? Many times a certain actor, actress or even singer will look like that specific character we're enjoying at the moment. As a reader, I've done this a few times, but now as an author, who writes her own characters, I have a pretty good idea of what they will look like in my head even before I start writing. This became so clear as I wrote For the Love of Mollie. There are four main characters I had to give traits and personalities to, where I needed to write them in such a way where they became "real". When I first saw this picture of Ryan Reynolds, I sighed. Yes, it was his abs that I couldn't stop looking at. But it's his facial expression, with that combination of sultry and, "I want to get to know you better" stare that screams Conner Bean to me. Since I have a die hard crush on Ryan Reynolds, and what I witnessed in the various movie roles he's played, that helped me come up with the character of Conner, the hero of For the Love of Mollie. Conner is an all around sweet guy with an incredible looking body. When I think of Ryan Reynolds, I see the same thing. Mollie McGree was a bit tougher for me. She is a very curvy woman with a head full of dark, bouncy curls. Conner thinks she is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. One gorgeous woman who I admire is Kate Winslet. She is an amazing actress who can do both drama and comedy so well and seems so full of life. When Mollie ponders about losing weight, I see Kate there wondering the same thing. When Mollie is giddy over Conner's interest in her, I see Kate giving Conner a shy smile because she has a man like him interested in her. To me, Kate Winslet is my ideal woman. Juan-Carlos (JC) was pretty easy to envision from the start. For some reason I saw Mark Consuelos in the role. I used to be a big fan of Mark's on the soap opera, All My Children, and when he'd stop by on The Oprah Winfrey show on Fridays to help with the hosting duties. Mark is so adorable. I love that smile of his. JC makes a few short appearances in For the Love of Mollie, but I tried to make him stand out, especially since I'm in the middle of writing a sequel of sorts with him and his romance with Mollie's best friend, Suzy Bean. Kirsten Picture: Suzy Bean, who's Conner's delightful cousin, is this outspoken smoker, who tells it like it is. Suzy is bigger in body type than Mollie, but embraces what she is and makes no excuse for it. She's thrilled that Mollie is having incredibly hot sex with her cousin. Suzy was also the hardest to visualize until I saw Kirsten Vangsness from the CBS show, Criminal Minds. If you have ever watched Kristen on Criminal Minds, she comes across as smart, witty and a bit wacky. And because of that, I see her as Suzy, sans the glasses. Suzy is a blonde bombshell who enjoys men and sex. And she has had JC on her radar for a long time, but has kept her feelings for him a secret out of respect for Mollie, who also once had a crush on him. I hope to show a different side of Suzy in her book as JC tries his best to seduce her away from a mystery man. My four main characters have come to life because of the actors and actresses who have made an impression on me. So here I ask, which of your favorite celebrities have you envisioned as the characters you have read? Bio: KT Grant is a self-proclaimed eccentric redhead who not only loves to read a wide variety of romances, but also loves writing it. Under her alter-ego, she is a well known book reviewer and blogger who doesn't shy away from voicing her opinion. A proud native of New Jersey, KT is multi-published and known for writing "out of the box" romances. KT has been quoted in such publications as the Romance Writers Associations’ Romance Writers Report and Night Owl Reviews. She has also been mentioned in the Guardian.UK, Publisher's Weekly's Beyond the Book and at Bookseller.com. You can visit her at http://ktgrant.com/ and at her personal blog at http://kbgbabbles.blogspot.com/
**You can also purchase a copy of KT's release. For the Love of Mollie will be in the Relay For Life ‘Read For a Cure’ feature for one month. During that month, all of the publisher's profits will be donated to the American Cancer Society** Labels: Katiebabs, KT Grant

My special guest today - Colette - is also someone I met on Twitter, and she is one of the ones responsible for my new infatuation with this guy named Terrible (THANK YOU!) and she helped start up a support group on Good Reads for those of us who can claim "I Gots Terrible Fever". We also share a love of Supernatural and Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series. Now here's more about Colette :)
Stacy: Feel free to tell us about yourself: name, background, etc. Are you a reader/blogger/writer?
My name’s Colette. Everyone thinks I was named after the writer, but I was actually named after a girl in my mom’s swim class back when she was a lifeguard! I’ve lived everywhere from Morocco to Arizona, but moved back to Ohio 5 years ago. I currently work at a supermarket as a receiving manager. I check in all the bread, pop, chip, and beer drivers. I’m also the webmaster, wine guru, and pricing coordinator-if something doesn’t ring up right when you check out at the register, that would be my fault.
I’m a blogger-I started my book blog after my personal blog started filling up with book reviews. I used to write a lot, but stopped for some reason, and have been seriously thinking about writing again.
Do you have a blog? What is the name/link and how would you describe your blog?
I do have a blog. The name is A Buckeye Girl Reads. It was originally named lovesromances-because I well, love to read romances. I changed it to A Buckeye Girl Reads because ever since I joined my first online forum I’ve been buckeyegirl, and thought I should stick to that. My blog has a little bit of every genre on it. It’s now mainly Urban Fantasy, with little bit of Paranormal Romance, historical romances, Erotica and YA thrown in. I don’t believe in limiting myself to one genre-it gets boring! h a
What book(s) are you currently reading? Would you recommend it?
I’m currently reading As You Wish, a YA book by Jackson Pearce. Before that I was reading City of Ghosts by Stacia Kane. I would totally recommend it to fans of Urban Fantasy. Her Downside Ghosts Series is why I love blogging. If you had told me a year ago I’d like a book like the ones in this series, I would have said: “no way!”
What is your most anticipated soon to be released book?
There are so many! I’m looking forward to: Sin Undone by Larissa Ione, (August 24) Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (August 24) Double Cross by Carolyn Crane, (Sept.28) Venom by Jennifer Estep, (October 2010) Alien Tango by Gini Koch (December 2010), My Fair Succubi by Jill Myles (December 2010) and of course like everyone else, I’m counting down the days till ShadowFever by Karen Marie Moning!
What's playing nonstop on your iPod rotation right now?
*whispers* I don’t have an iPod. Does that make me old? I thought so. I used to keep all my music on my Chocolate phone, but recently got a new one and lost everything I had. I’m currently into the Glee soundtrack.
What are your favorite places to visit online?
I love to visit Survivorblows.com It started out as a Survivor bashing site, but is now a fansite. I mainly lurk over there now, but love all the different theories that people come up with on who will win the game. I also spend a lot of time on Xanga. It’s where I first started blogging and it has a soft spot in my heart because of it. I also haunt Goodreads, Facebook and Twitter more then I should.
What are some of your favorite things: beverage? food? t.v. show?
Beverage is Coca Cola. I’m totally addicted to it. I drink an insane amount of it and am surprised my teeth aren’t brown. Favorite Food: Pizza with Extra Cheese, Pepperoni and Onions TV Show: Torchwood, hands down! I also love Being Human, (another British show) Glee, and have re-discovered Burn Notice and Supernatural.
Which hottie out there is to die for? This is going to show my age, but I’ve always just adored Matt Damon. There’s just something about his smile that gets me every time!
I also adore Aidan Turner from the British Show Being Human. (It’s about a ghost, werewolf and vampire trying to co-exist with each other and humans. It’s great!)
A third hottie is James Scott who plays EJ on Days of Our Lives. There’s something about his accent that I just love. I’m totally on team EJAMI (That’s those of us who want Sami (Allison Sweeney) to be together with EJ, and not Rafe.) Favorite restaurant?
Frickers-a local bar that has the best wings I’ve ever had.
What is your idea of a romantic gesture from your sweetie?
I don’t have a sweetie right now…but I would have to say something simple-like cooking me dinner would do.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I blink in almost every single picture that I take. There is something about the blinding flash of light that bothers me. It’s why I don’t have any pictures of me up on my blog, because my eyes are always closed in the pictures that I take!
Thanx Colette! I was thrilled to have you here today :) It's nice be able to introduce new friends and talk about some of our favorite things, isn't it? Labels: online friends, spotlight

Erin McCarthy for the win, win, win!
I have a confession to make: I have a new part-time job. A fun, interesting one too. Curious to know what it is? Well, you are currently visiting the blog of Erin McCarthy's assistant! Now it's not all a bed of roses. I have to read her books and come up with interesting posts and have contests to give away said books. Yeah, real tough life. All kidding aside, I freakin' ADORE Erin and have known her for years, and I'm honored and flattered to have been offered this opportunity to spread the word about one of my favorite authors ever. It truly is something I love doing, and damn, what a fun gig! I'd actually been planning this particular post awhile, since way before she asked me about the position, because I do love her books and want to share them with everyone. So now that Hot Finish, the 3rd book in Erin's Fast Track series was recently released, I thought it would be a fun thing to have a contest for all 3 of them. My contest is open to everyone, including international readers. As long as you can receive mail, you can enter the contest :) As with all my contests, I like to ask questions. The more books, the more questions. I try to tie them in with the book(s), so here goes....
- The Fast Track series is about racing. Are you a fan of racing? If not, what is your favorite sport to watch on t.v.?
- Racing has a lot of fans and followers. Would you want to date a racing celebrity? Why or why not?
- Be honest, when you're behind the wheel, are you a hot-footed Jeff Gordon or a "follow the speed limit or you'll crash" driver?
Contest rules: You MUST answer ALL the questions to qualify for an entry into the contest. Contest will end on Friday, August 20th at 7pm CST. Winner must respond within one week of being announced as such (as I tend to post a bit late!)
GOOD LUCK!!!

Jackie is another person I met at Twitter, and she's is not so much an angel as she is a little devil *g* And a fun one at that. Here's your chance to get to know her yourself :) Stacy: Feel free to tell us about yourself: name, background, etc. Are you a reader/blogger/writer?
My name is Jackie, I'm a Salvadoran with an Arab last name. I've lived in Maryland my entire life and I came to the USA cuz I was ON A BOAT! I work as a volunteer coordinator at a local nonprofit in Maryland (I also handle ALL their social media) and recent #twitloss member. I'm currently a reader, a blogger and I've recently started writing my own book (for fun... and on a dare). I've recently become a white house reporter's intern. I'm also a total *angel face* LOL!
Do you have a blog? What is the name/link and how would you describe your blog?
I do have a blog and I titled it Insane Hussein. My blog is mainly a book review blog, where I post my reviews of books I've read (duh). I usually read romance and erotic romance novels, including gay erotica. My blog is NSFW (Not Safe For Work). I also have a tumblr blog where I post my smutty #smutclub photos and that is also NSFW (http://insanehussein.tumblr.com).
What book(s) are you currently reading? Would you recommend it?
I'm currently reading: Wild West Boys by Lorelei James (antho), The Icing On The Cake by Alison Kent (ARC), REBEL and SCOUNDREL (both) by Zoe Archer, and Seduced By Shadows by Jessa Slade.
What is your most anticipated soon to be released book?
Probably my most anticipated soon to be released book is the next JD Robb novel. I don't know when it is but I've got my fingers crossed. Roarke is yumminess personified (in a book).
What's playing nonstop on your iPod rotation right now?
My Michael Jackson playlist. The man was a friggin' genius when it came to music and I love his music.
What are your favorite places to visit online?
My favorite places to visit online are other bloggers' sites, such as Smexy Books, Smart Bitches Trashy Books, Nora Roberts' website and a few NSFW sites..... *shifty eyes* *angel face*
What are some of your favorite things: beverage? food? t.v. show?
I love pupusas (a Salvadoran dish mmmmm), Chipotle burritos, wine AND liquor, cheese, chocolates (I have an obsession), Nutella, sugar-free Popsicles = carb-free (yes, they're out there!) and SEAFOOD (except shrimp--no good for me).
Which hottie out there is to die for?
For complete male hotness and dominance I'd say Alexander Skarsgard. For hot, smexy geekiness (which is my weakness) I would go with Christopher Gorham.
Favorite restaurant?
I'd have to say anything with an excellent bar. But if I had to give a name it would be Red Lobster. I DO love seafood. A lot. NOMZ!!
What is your idea of a romantic gesture from your sweetie?
I think the most romantic gesture from my sweetie (if he wanted a guaranteed "YES I'LL MARRY YOU" from me) would be to give me a room and build my library in it. Other than that, a foot massage. I love foot massages.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
My smutty language is worse in real life. I've also lost over 50 pounds since August 12, 2009 AND gave up all carbonated drinks the same day (beer, soda, sparkling water/cider/wine, champagne, etc.). Plus, I'm rad.
LOL. Yes you are. Thanx Jackie for being here, and for being so entertaining *g* Congrats on the weight loss, that's awesome! You should be so proud of yourself. Thank you for sharing :) Labels: online friends, spotlight
