Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione & a giveaway
They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.
Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life. Things are not looking good. A seal of one of the 4 Horsemen has been broken, rendering the keeper of said seal evil and it's only a matter of time before another seal is also destroyed, which will bring on the Apocalypse. Ares, though part demon himself, has no desire to see that happen, and along with his other siblings, seek to keep anyone - or anything - from breaking his, a agrimortus which is bringing protected by a fallen angel. Only evil has other plans, and the seal is not safe. The fallen angel manages to transfer it to another, a human. Only humans cannot sustain it for very long, and end up dying. Ares and the other Horsemen must find a way to keep the seal safe, even if it means dealing with a human.... Cara Thornhart cannot believe the crazy things that have been happening to her. Angels and demons and other "supernatural" beings are trying to kill her, only this is not some cheesy horror movie; this is her life. Reluctantly joining forces with a moody, bossy yet extremely hot Horseman, Cara tries to stay alive so as not to trigger the end of the world. It's a huge responsibility for someone who has never known such beings truly existed outside of a book. All she did was just save this dog with really bad breath.... Ares and Cara are racing against the clock, trying to find a fallen angel who can more adequately protect Ares' seal while fighting the immense attraction that exists between them. Now is not the time to be diving between the sheets, not when the world's about to explode into battle. Ares is used to not feeling anything for anyone. His goal is to win wars by any means possible, and showing tenderness towards another is a sign of weakness. Cara has a secret that has kept people from getting to close to her, even her loved ones. Yet together they forge a bond that soon cannot be broken.... My thoughts: This book kept my attention right from the start. I happen to be fascinated by biblical stories, and the signaling of the end of the world tends to fascinate me for some morbid reason. In the hands of a skilled author such as Larissa Ione, it's quite a wild and intense ride. Ares is your typical warrior: fearless, strong, and removed emotionally from others. His unusual response to Cara, a mere human woman who holds the key to salvation, baffles and frustrates him. His goal is to keep the world from ending, and he doesn't have time, nor the desire, to care for another. Cara has always felt separated from others, even her own family. She's not used to trusting another, but she must trust Ares to keep her safe, even if he is a huge, irritating jerk. I enjoyed their dynamic, the fact that they confound each other. Their awakening feelings amidst such chaos is rewarding to watch, and gives them both something to fight for. I liked how Larissa added an edge of danger to Cara's and Ares' desire for each other. There was a strong and believable element of violence that enhanced their attraction, and was - whew! - undeniably hot. And it worked. I felt their desperation and need, and it was a palpable, breathing thing. Cara's ability and unique affinity for animals added an intriguing element to the storyline. I love animals, so this was fun to see how it was worked into the story. I found the creative history of the Four Horseman fascinating and ripe with possibilities for the future stories. Larissa left us with so many nuggets of "what if" that I cannot wait to discover just what they might be. I also loved that we got to re-visit with beloved characters from the Demonica series. I get attached to characters, so seeing the again was a treat. I don't wish to give anything away here, and I cannot do a better job of expressing the awesomeness of this book as some of the other bloggers have so eloquently done, but suffice it to say, you will be on the edge of your seat reading this book. Even when you know what's going to happen, you can't help but hold your breath and curse Larissa for tying you in wonderful, emotional knots. Dread and hope war with each other, and you're utterly engaged in this story. I'm really excited to read the next thrilling installment of this brand-new series. Rating: **** out of *****
I am haing a contest for a copy of Eternal Rider that will end at 6pm CST on Sunday, April 17th. All you have to do is answer the following question:
What would you do if it was your last day on earth?

Win a copy of "Simply Irresistible" by Jill Shalvis
Maddie Moore's whole life needs a makeover.
In one fell swoop, Maddie loses her boyfriend (her decision) and her job (so "not "her decision). But rather than drowning her sorrows in bags of potato chips, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim the inheritance left by her free-spirited mother-a ramshackle inn nestled in the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington.
Starting over won't be easy. Yet Maddie sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if only she can convince her two half-sisters to join her in the adventure. But convincing Tara and Chloe will be difficult because the inn needs a big makeover too.
The contractor Maddie hires is a tall, dark-haired hottie whose eyes-and mouth-are making it hard for her to remember that she's sworn off men. Even harder will be Maddie's struggles to overcome the past, though she's about to discover that there's no better place to call home than Lucky Harbor.
I loved Jill's book so much (quite possibly my favorite JS book to date), I decided that some lucky reader who hasn't read it yet should get the opportunity to do so.
Just answer my question no later than noon CST on Sunday, October 31st, and you are entered to win. It's just that simple! Open to anyone who can receive mail :)
What are your favorite hero names?

Contest: Supporting books, not banning them
For those of you on Twitter, most of you may have seen the numerous #SpeakLoudly hashtags yesterday about banned books. Most notably, the tweets were addressing a rather narrow-minded associate professor of management at Missouri State University by the name of Wesley Scroggins, who is blatantly claiming that the Young Adult book "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson should be banned because of some scenes he describes as "softly pornographic", which in fact are scenes of rape. I don't know about you, but my first thought was: What the fucking hell???
Now granted, I have not read the book myself, but I have seen and blogged about the movie because I felt it was a glimpse of the very stark reality of what happens to a lot of teenage girls. As a woman, rape is a legitimate and very real fear, and anytime some moron comes out and puts the blame on the victim, or turns it into something titillating and salacious, my first reaction is that I want to them to experience firsthand exactly what it is they are ignoring. This jackass and his uninformed opinions raised my hackles, and made me more determined than ever that this book not be banned.
I'm not the first, and hopefully I won't be the last, to stand up and want to do something. So today I'm joining a long list of book lovers and believers in the freedom of speech to support these books, and to hopefully get them back on the shelves. I hope you will join me.
So for the next 2 weeks, ending at noon CST on Saturday, October 2nd, I'm going to have a contest to win a copy of this book. Or, if you've already read it and would like to read another book on the banned book list, I will buy a copy and send it to you. (You can go here for a list banned and challenged books). Contest is open to everyone. Just leave a comment.
For more ways you can help, you can visit Laurie's blog and just follow the links. And please stop by CJ Wine's blog and read one courageous author's own account as she SPEAKS OUT against banning books. If this doesn't move you, I don't know what will.

Contest: win a signed copy of "Something About You" by Julie James
FATE HAS THROWN TWO SWORN ENEMIES. . . Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends in bloodshed. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago—and nearly ruining his career…
. . .INTO EACH OTHER’S ARMS
Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it’s no joke: the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension…
Recently I won a signed copy of Julie's book on Facebook, but since I am lucky enough to already have one, I decided to offer this one up in a contest.
Simple rules: just respond to the contest question no later than noon CST on Friday, September 24th. Open to everyone. Must answer the question in order to qualify.
Question: Since one of the characters in Julie's book is an attorney, my question is:
What is your favorite law show and/or character?
Now you are free to go forth and enter :)
Good luck! Labels: contest, Julie James

Erin McCarthy for the win, win, win!
I have a confession to make: I have a new part-time job. A fun, interesting one too. Curious to know what it is? Well, you are currently visiting the blog of Erin McCarthy's assistant! Now it's not all a bed of roses. I have to read her books and come up with interesting posts and have contests to give away said books. Yeah, real tough life. All kidding aside, I freakin' ADORE Erin and have known her for years, and I'm honored and flattered to have been offered this opportunity to spread the word about one of my favorite authors ever. It truly is something I love doing, and damn, what a fun gig! I'd actually been planning this particular post awhile, since way before she asked me about the position, because I do love her books and want to share them with everyone. So now that Hot Finish, the 3rd book in Erin's Fast Track series was recently released, I thought it would be a fun thing to have a contest for all 3 of them. My contest is open to everyone, including international readers. As long as you can receive mail, you can enter the contest :) As with all my contests, I like to ask questions. The more books, the more questions. I try to tie them in with the book(s), so here goes....
- The Fast Track series is about racing. Are you a fan of racing? If not, what is your favorite sport to watch on t.v.?
- Racing has a lot of fans and followers. Would you want to date a racing celebrity? Why or why not?
- Be honest, when you're behind the wheel, are you a hot-footed Jeff Gordon or a "follow the speed limit or you'll crash" driver?
Contest rules: You MUST answer ALL the questions to qualify for an entry into the contest. Contest will end on Friday, August 20th at 7pm CST. Winner must respond within one week of being announced as such (as I tend to post a bit late!)
GOOD LUCK!!!

My Top 10 Movies of All Time + a Cool Contest!
Movies. Just one of my favorite things :) And there's nothing more fun that discussing favorite movies, unless it's books! Or, okay, the hotties ;) But today is all about the movies.
Some cool friends of mine - Beth, Julie, and Lea - all thought it would be cool to have a blog-hopping contest between our 4 blogs where we talk about our favorite movies. But to make it even more fun, all 4 of us are going to have a contest at our own blogs encouraging y'all to talk about some of your favorite movies. (Shout-out to Lea for making this awesome banner!)
My list consists of films I could watch over and over and never get tired of them. At first I thought it would be difficult to come up with such a list, but after some consideration, I realized that I already knew which movies belonged on this list.
 1. East of Eden (1955)- I remember seeing this movie on PBS a long time ago, and one of the scenes that immediately caught my attention was the one with James Dean & Julie Harris up on the top of the ferris wheel. I knew then and there I just had to watch the whole thing, and when I finally did, I loved it even more. What really speaks to me in this film is that Cal (Dean) is the son that no one expects much from, the goof-off, the one who's always getting into trouble and coming up with schemes. But in the end, Cal is the son that you can count on, the one who sticks it out when things bet bad. And while the movie is only a small portion of the book, it was a very significant piece of this piece of literature. It never fails to get me to react, and I fall in love with Cal all over again... 2. BBC Pride & Prejudice (1995) - I shamefully admit it, I had not read Pride & Prejudice - at least not the entire book - until I watched this particular movie. And it immediately grabbed me. Not only was Colin Firth the epitome of the quintessential Mr. Darcy, but Jennifer Ehle had the bold and unwavering intelligence and humor to go head to head with him time and again (I believe the two were involved during the filming of this mini-series). This rendition of the beloved romance is by far my favorite, though others have turned my eye as well, but because we get a more drawn out telling of the story here, it is at the top of my list. Not to mention the scene where a dripping Mr. Darcy encounters a rather embarrassed yet intrigued Miss Bennett at Pemberly. It's a much more sensual telling of the story, and one I could watch over and over... 3.French Kiss (1995) - This came out during a time when Meg Ryan was still America's sweetheart (I still adore her) and this is her in a role that probably doesn't immediately come to mind when they think of their favorite Meg Ryan film, but it always tops mine. I think because in the beginning we see the neurotic character she plays (who is terrified of flying) evolve into a woman who learns to not take everything so seriously, and that maybe the things you thought were so important end up changing once you really get to know someone. One of my favorite scenes is where Meg is drinking from a glass of wine and Kevin Kline asks her to describe the wine. But there are so many moments I could quote because this movie is endearing and sweet yet also earthy. The kiss at the end in the vineyard - whoa, mama! Verra sexy ;)
4.Emma (1996)- Just a fun film! Emma is SUCH a brat, but she means well. She just needs to be taken down a peg or two by Mr. Knightley, the older, sophisticated gentleman who reluctantly indulges Emma's schemes for the most part, until her behavior becomes spiteful and a bit mean. But eventually the flighty, sometimes whimsical Emma puts away her daydreams and starts to realize it's time to grow up, and that the match she's really been wishing for - the one for herself - has been there all the time, just waiting for her to open her eyes and discover it. Though Jeremy Northam isn't my idea of the romantic leading man, he sure stole my heart in this film, and made me wish for a few moments that I was Emma, accepting his marriage proposal. 5.Clueless (1995) - The modern day version of Emma, Clueless is set in 20th century California, with lots of blonde, tan girls and surfer dudes. Despite the amateurish telling, it's incredibly infectious, and Alicia Silverstone is gorgeous and manipulative in this film, however it's all for good. Despite being a spoiled brat with daddy's credit card, Cher is immediately likable even when you try to hate her. (Still had my girl crush on her from the video "Cryin'). She suffered through her own heartbreak when her plans start to backfire on her, but Cher is not one to sit back and wallow for long, and in the end, she gets the guy (who is much cuter than Mr. Knightley!) The characters were funny, silly, and it's a movie I always stop to watch because it's a bit mindless, and the soundtrack rocks. 6. The Black Swan (1942) - The first time I had seen this, I was immediately infatuated with Tyrone Power as the swaggering pirate Jamie who cannot get the fiery redhead out of his mind. This swashbuckling film is my top pick from the genre, because it's fun and sexy and exciting. Not only is Jamie the kind of pirate I'd surrender my bootie to (ahem), but Maureen O'Hara is stunningly vibrant and kicks ass as a sassy and ornery lady of worth who determinedly fights her attraction to a man she thinks is an outlaw, only to discover that he's not so bad after all. Nope, our Jamie boy is quite irresistible ;) 7. Gilda (1946) - To me, current plastic surgery and Botox treatments nonwithstanding, I find Rita Hayworth to be the most incredibly beautiful woman, and I so harbor a mad girl crush on her. You just don't see women like that today, and it's a sad thing. This film showcased Rita as a woman who lived life on the edge. She hooked up with rich, powerful men who didn't make her happy, all the while pining for her former boyfriend Johnny (played by Glenn Ford) who didn't hae the dough, but they loved each other madly. As luck would have it, Gilda and Johnny cross paths again, and it's not without it's drama, especially considering Gilda is a married woman, and Johnny hates Gilda with a deep passion, yet is forced to keep an eye on her as she parties the nights away. Intense, dark, full of lust and murder, I can never pass this one by . 8. Anne of Green Gables/Anne of Avonlea (1985/1987) - I pulled an all-nighter watching these movies when I was babysitting with a friend. We pulled out the VHS and immediately fell in love with Anne and Gilbert. I wanted Megan Follows to be my best friend! I wanted to marry Gilbert! Recently I bought the collector's edition, which contains the 3rd movie, but I don't include it here because it doesn't capture the magic, or spirit, of Anne like these 2 movies do. Anne was one of those fearless people who always seemed to do the wrong thing, for the right reason, but eventually she won everyone over with her determination to be different and follow her own path. She had to live a little to realize that what she really needed was what she's always known. No other version of this film could do the series justice. 9. The Wedding Singer (1998) - I am not going to embarrass myself and tell you how many times I went to the theatre to see this movie, but it was more than once. I completely fell for Adam Sandler as Robbie Hart, and Drew Barrymore is adorable as Julia, the engaged girl he ends up meeting when his band plays at a wedding and she's with the caterers. Right from the start their chemistry is palpable, and it's so easy to see these two as a couple. Set in the 80's (my time), the music brought me back to simpler times, and though there were a few (eww!) moments, overall I fell for this film, and the scene on the plane when Robbie sings to Julia is so sweet.
10.My Man Godfrey (1936) - What can I say, this movie was pure magic. Carole Lombard is luminous as an airhead socialite who falls in love with Godfrey, a homeless man she brings home to be the butler. But Godfrey keeps his distance, not willing to upset his stable position within the household to get involved with Irene, though we find out that Godfrey is not exactly who he says he is. This film is magical, and funny, but also telling of times during the Great Depression, how easy it was to make one bad investment and the significant impact this time had on a nation. Still does, considering current times. Though this film has been recreated in color, I was always partial to the original black and white version. I think it highlights the happy, carefree moments and blends them with the darker, more desperate times much more effectively. Mostly, this is a lovely film, charming and lighthearted, romantic and funny, with overtones of a difficult time in the country's economy. Still a favorite. Honorable mentions:
~ Lili (1953) (with Leslie Caron & Mel Ferrer ) ~ Sabrina (1954)(with Audrey Hepburn & Humphrey Bogart )
Now, it's YOUR turn! I'd love to know what your favorite movies are. Please include a minimum of 3 choices, with a maximum of 10 selections, for your chance to win a tres cool prize. The winner will receive a $10 giftcard to the bookstore of choice PLUS a copy of a book from either Beth Kery or Julie James. There is only one entry per person, and the contest is good through Friday, July 16th at 6pm CST! And please be sure to stop by these amazing blogs for more chances to win! Good luck! "Release" Day - win a copy of Beth Kery's latest book!
Genny loved her husband Max, but he lacked the sexual charge that was instead ignited by his business partner, Sean. Ruggedly handsome, Sean had a heart-stopping smile that made Genny weak. The more time they spent together, the stronger the attraction between them became. Then her husband offered to share her with Sean for one intoxicating night...
That night in the company penthouse, Max and Sean showed Genny the heights of ecstasy. But it was Sean who touched her very spirit, and one-onone, they were red hot. But as Genny learns, there's a price to pay for such impulsive pleasure. What began as a night of forbidden desire spirals into a whirlpool of murder, sensual submission, secrets, and a scorching passion that threatens to consume everyone it touches. Today I am having a contest for a copy of this excellent erotic romance, written by Beth Kery. All you have to do is answer the following question to be eligible: In RELEASE, Genny has a hot threesome with her husband and Sean. If you could have a sexy threesome with any two people - could be from the movies, or a book, etc - who would those two lucky people be? The contest will run until 5pm CST on Sunday, March 21st. Everyone is welcome to enter, but must answer the question to qualify. I ask that you please DO NOT include your email address in your response. Appreciate it :) Good luck! Can't wait to see your answers ;)

There's Something About Julie James....
...that makes her an incredibly engaging writer. Right from her first book, Just the Sexiest Man Alive, it was obvious she had "it", that unique quality to draw the reader in and totally capture their attention with her snappy dialogue, smart and savvy characters, and attractive settings. She's definitely got a fan for life with me (so that means she better keep writing *g*). Julie James is an autobuy for me, no question. That's pretty amazing considering it happened right from her first book.
Her latest release, Something About You, is no exception. I fell completely in love with Jack, and wanted so badly to be Cameron. After reading it, I was curious to know how things were going with Julie's writing, so I figured what the heck, I'm nosy, so I'll just ask her. Here is what Ms. James had to say:
S~ In the 3 books you've had published, each of the heroines is an attorney or has practiced law in some capacity. Do you see yourself writing about a different profession, or do you find that you have more stories to share with readers about this profession?
JJ: Funny you should ask. . . shockingly, the heroine in my fourth book is not a lawyer. She owns a wine shop in Chicago. That being said, I think there are a lot more stories I could write that involve the legal profession--I'm definitely not done with that!
S~ I like how you've incorporated some part of your personality or interests into your heroines. For example, we know you like wine and that you're a vegetarian (both of which have been traits shared by one or more of your heroines). Do you find yourself including little pieces of yourself into your characters or is it more that it just feel right with the story you're telling?
JJ: It's certainly easier to write a character's personality traits and interests if they are ones I personally identify with. But my knowledge of, or interest in, a subject is really just a spring board for what I use in the book. For example, before beginning to write my fourth book, in which the heroine owns a wine shop, I only knew the basics about wine. My heroine obviously needed to be more familiar with the subject, so I took a wine education class, read some books, and have gotten to know the owner of my local wine store, who was nice enough to let me shadow her for a day. So I guess the real question is, do my heroines take on my interests and personality traits, or do I adopt theirs? Hmm...
S~ Something About You is definitely your sexiest story so far, and we get to see a lot more intimacy between Jack and Cameron. Is it difficult to throw the bedroom door wide open and write those sexy love scenes between your characters? Or do you think it's something that feels comfortable within the scope of a romance? JJ: I felt comfortable writing "hotter" scenes in this book because they fit with the overall story. With the suspense subplot, this book has more of an edge than my previous two, and I felt that more intimate love scenes worked better with the tone. Plus, there's a LOT of sexual tension between Cameron and Jack, and I thought people might kill me if I didn't show the scenes where that tension finally boils over. ;-) (You got that right, sister! *g*)
S~ Do you listen to any type of music to inspire your stories?
JJ: I don't listen to music while I'm actually writing, but I do play music during breaks that I feel fits with the book I'm working on. For Something About You, I listened to a mix of Rihanna, Billie Holiday, and the Black Eyed Peas. Weird combo, I know.
S~ We know that you've used real actors as inspiration for some of your heroes. What about your heroines? Do you have a specific person in mind when you create them or are they all based on you? (LOL) JJ: Cameron Lynde from Something About You is the first heroine for whom I had a specific actress in mind: Eva Green's character in Casino Royale, Vesper Lynd. I even borrowed the last name. I love how tough yet feminine her character is, and I wanted to create the same impression with my heroine. So this is what I picture Cameron looking like:
S~ Has writing novels gotten easier since you first started? Where do you see your stories going? Are you happy writing contemporaries, or do you see your exploring other genres? JJ: I wouldn't say it's gotten easier, no. Actually, my first two books were easier to write than Something About You. Adding a suspense subplot definitely makes things trickier, especially when other parts of the book are light and humorous. Balancing those two was a challenge at times. As for where I see my books going. . . I'm happy writing contemporaries, and I plan to continue with that for now. With my fourth book, I've again added some mild suspense, but like in SAY, it's just a subplot.
S~ How extensive does your research get? JJ: I'll be honest--I did pretty much no research for my first two books. Particularly Practice Makes Perfect--I mean, I lived that life, I KNEW it. For Something About You, however, I had to do a fair amount. Since the hero is an FBI agent, and there's a suspense element, I researched guns and tiny spy cameras, how criminal investigations are conducted, those kinds of things. And I also had to do research for my heroine--even though I was a civil trial lawyer myself and obviously know what lawyers do in general, I wanted to know more about the day-to-day life of a criminal prosecutor. Luckily, I have a friend who is an Assistant U.S. Attorney, like Cameron, and I would send him emails with odd questions like: "How many other people do you share your secretary with?" or "When you meet with FBI agents to discuss an investigation, do you meet at their office or yours?" I had the big picture of the job, but I needed to know the little stuff.
S~ How has the transition from practicing law to writing full-time been? JJ: I do sometimes miss being in a courtroom, taking depositions, things of that nature. But I enjoy writing full-time even more, so it's been worth it. And it's nice to have a job you can do in sweatpants. ;-)
S~ Since writing romance, have your reading preferences changed, or do you still continue to read in the same genre as before? JJ: I definitely read more romance now that I write romance--before my first book came out, I was pretty unfamiliar with the genre. Now I read a mixture of both romantic fiction and literary fiction. Within romance, I try to read a mixture of all the subgenres.
S~. Since it was just Valentine's Day, what do you think, without getting too specific of course, is the most romantic thing your (brilliant :D) husband has done for you? JJ: Oh boy, Mr. James just eats these compliments up. ;-) Probably one of the most romantic things he's done for me was on my 30th birthday--I went to New York with some girlfriends and left on my actual birthday. He gave me a card before my flight and said I couldn't open it until I got to New York. Once we checked into our hotel, I opened the card and inside was a scavenger hunt-type message directing me to go to a store located at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, and that I'd find my gift there. My girlfriends and I walked there from our hotel, and since none of us were that familiar with New York, we had a lot of fun on the way guessing what store it would be. And since you said not to be too specific, I'll end the story there. ;-) (WHAT?! That is just so wrong! LOL)
S~ Where can we expect to see you this year, either at signings or conferences? JJ: I'm doing a signing in Chicago on March 13th with Beth Kery, Shiloh Walker and Joss Ware/Colleen Gleason. If people are in the Chicago area, we'd love to see you! (I love all these authors! And I'll definitely be there). Details on that, and my other upcoming appearances, can be found at: I'll also be signing books at the Chicago-North RWA Spring Fling on April 24th, and then I'll be attending the RT Convention in Columbus. As for the July conferences, I plan to attend RWA and may attend Rom Con as well, if I can make it work.
S~ What's next for Julie James? Readers like me are DYING to know!
JJ: I'm finishing up my fourth book, about a wealthy wine store owner who agrees to pose as the girlfriend of an undercover FBI agent (as part of a sting operation) in exchange for her twin brother's release from prison. And people who like Something About You will be happy to know that a couple of the characters make appearances in supporting roles. I liked Jack so much, I had to bring him back. ;-) It's the first time I've linked two books together, which was fun for me. Then it'll be on to my next book, the hero of which I think is going to be a character from the book I'm finishing now. But I won't know that for sure until I get into the story and start drafting a synopsis. S~ Well consider me a happy little camper! I cannot wait for that one to be in my possession. Sounds fabulous! Thanx Julie, for spending your precious writing time answering my questions. I really appreciate it. Now, as for the rest of you, I can't just leave it at that. Now I'm not sure if Julie will be stopping by today (Wednesday) but regardless, I will be having a random drawing for a copy of Something About You, which will be released on March 2nd. So here's the deal: Contest is open to anyone who can receive mail, and will end on Sunday, February 28th, at 3pm CST. All you have to do is answer the question(s). One entry per person, and please do not leave your email address. Winner is responsible for contacting me no later than one week from the time announced, otherwise a new winner will be randomly selected. Since Something About You is about two people who, due to a terrible situation, cannot stand each other, yet due to unexpected circumstances, are thrown together for an indefinite period of time. What I want to now: What book and/or movie portrays your favorite love/hate relationship, where the characters can't stand each other but are also very attracted to each other?
Feel free to give additional examples if you'd like. This is one of my favorite tropes, and I'm always looking for good recommendations. Now go forth and enter. Good luck!

Play & win! Contest for Jill Shalvis' Double Play & Slow Heat

These two books are some of Jill Shalvis' best work, as far as I'm concerned. I really liked both of them, and thought hey, I bet you would too. So I am having a contest for one random winner to get a copy of BOTH books. Believe me, if you've never read a Shalvis book, now is your chance, because they are awesome. Baseball, sexy men, likeable & smart heroines, sexy men, humor, emotion and oh yeah, SEXY men. Contest ends Monday, February 15th, at 2pm CST. In order to be entered into the drawing, you must answer at least 2 of the following questions:
- What is your favorite sports movie?
- What is your favorite sports team?
- What sport do you/did you play?
- If you could play any sport, what would it be?
- Have you ever met a sports figure and if so, who?
- Who is your favorite or who do you think is the cutest sports figure?
- Do sports figures make too much money?
One entry per person, so answering more questions will not increase the number of chances. So please, just choose the questions you want to answer and have fun with it. GOOD LUCK!

Holiday contest #3: win a copy of "Perfect Chemistry" by Simone Elkeles
A lot of readers are seriously into YA books these days, and after ages I finally picked this one up. As usual, I'm late to the party, but that's okay. Better late than never right?
So this book was a real treat. Jaded yet optimistic all at the same time, and the ending, well, that was worth it, let me tell ya. I did my review a few months back on it, and when I was thinking of holiday contests, and including some of my favorite things, well this book, Perfect Chemistry, was one of my favorite books of the year, not to mention a damn fine YA story. So this is my giveaway this week.
Per the Grinch (that would be me), same rules apply. Contest will run until noon CST on Friday, December 18th. All you have to do is answer the question. I ask that you don't include your email address. Once a winner is selected, it is their responsibility to contact me no later than a week from Friday, otherwise a new winner will be selected.
This week's contest question:
What clique, if any, did you fall into in high school:
Were you a jock, the homecoming queen, the class clown? Something else entirely?
Good luck :) Labels: contest
