SPECIAL GUEST: Author KT Grant!
I am beyond thrilled to have visiting the blog today my very special guest and friend - KT Grant - because she's someone I've known for quite sometime as a reader and a blogger, and I really admire her for her fearless opinions and endless quest for knowledge. She's not afraid to ask questions and talk about uncomfortable subjects to get a much needed dialogue doing. KT is smart and funny and I am so happy that in pursuing her dream, she's now become a published writer. I am SO proud of her! Let's give KT a warm welcome :)

KT Grant has generously offered me a copy of her release FOR THE LOVE OF MOLLIE, which though it kills me, I've decided I will offer up as a prize to one lucky winner. All you have to do is answer the question KT posted below. Winner will be selected at 7pm CST on Friday, August 27th.

Who Do You See As You Read?

Are you the type of reader who likes to place your favorite celebrities in the characters you read about? Many times a certain actor, actress or even singer will look like that specific character we're enjoying at the moment. As a reader, I've done this a few times, but now as an author, who writes her own characters, I have a pretty good idea of what they will look like in my head even before I start writing.

This became so clear as I wrote For the Love of Mollie. There are four main characters I had to give traits and personalities to, where I needed to write them in such a way where they became "real".

When I first saw this picture of Ryan Reynolds, I sighed. Yes, it was his abs that I couldn't stop looking at. But it's his facial expression, with that combination of sultry and, "I want to get to know you better" stare that screams Conner Bean to me. Since I have a die hard crush on Ryan Reynolds, and what I witnessed in the various movie roles he's played, that helped me come up with the character of Conner, the hero of For the Love of Mollie. Conner is an all around sweet guy with an incredible looking body. When I think of Ryan Reynolds, I see the same thing.

Mollie McGree was a bit tougher for me. She is a very curvy woman with a head full of dark, bouncy curls. Conner thinks she is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. One gorgeous woman who I admire is Kate Winslet. She is an amazing actress who can do both drama and comedy so well and seems so full of life. When Mollie ponders about losing weight, I see Kate there wondering the same thing. When Mollie is giddy over Conner's interest in her, I see Kate giving Conner a shy smile because she has a man like him interested in her. To me, Kate Winslet is my ideal woman.

Juan-Carlos (JC) was pretty easy to envision from the start. For some reason I saw Mark Consuelos in the role. I used to be a big fan of Mark's on the soap opera, All My Children, and when he'd stop by on The Oprah Winfrey show on Fridays to help with the hosting duties. Mark is so adorable. I love that smile of his. JC makes a few short appearances in For the Love of Mollie, but I tried to make him stand out, especially since I'm in the middle of writing a sequel of sorts with him and his romance with Mollie's best friend, Suzy Bean.

Kirsten Picture: Suzy Bean, who's Conner's delightful cousin, is this outspoken smoker, who tells it like it is. Suzy is bigger in body type than Mollie, but embraces what she is and makes no excuse for it. She's thrilled that Mollie is having incredibly hot sex with her cousin. Suzy was also the hardest to visualize until I saw Kirsten Vangsness from the CBS show, Criminal Minds.

If you have ever watched Kristen on Criminal Minds, she comes across as smart, witty and a bit wacky. And because of that, I see her as Suzy, sans the glasses. Suzy is a blonde bombshell who enjoys men and sex. And she has had JC on her radar for a long time, but has kept her feelings for him a secret out of respect for Mollie, who also once had a crush on him. I hope to show a different side of Suzy in her book as JC tries his best to seduce her away from a mystery man.

My four main characters have come to life because of the actors and actresses who have made an impression on me.

So here I ask, which of your favorite celebrities have you envisioned as the characters you have read?

Guest Spotlight: Katiebabs - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Most of you all already know Katiebabs, from Babbling About Books, who's made the rounds around . But now she's also a published author. Woo hoo! Kate is definitely one of my favorite people and bloggers, and I'm thrilled for all the good things happening for her right now. To top it all off, it's her birthday, so give her a shout-out here,or at Twitter: www.twitter.com/katiebabs

Heeeeeere's KATE!

Stacy: Feel free to tell us about yourself: name, background, etc. Are you a reader/blogger/writer?

I go by many names, but the majority of people on-line know me as Katiebabs aka KB. In the real world I'm known better as Kate. I'm a redhead, who's a little eccentric and reside in northern New Jersey, about 30 minutes outside of Manhattan. My background is as a pop culture junkie who lives and breathes reading and writing.

Stacy: Do you have a blog? What is the name/link and how would you describe your blog?

My blog, Babblings about Books and More! Has been live since September 2008 and you can find it at http://kbgbabbles.blogspot.com/. Babblings is a place where you can kick off your shoes, relax, and chat about whatever is on your mind. But more often than not, it's a place to talk about books.

Stacy: What book(s) are you currently reading? Would you recommend it?

I've started reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett based on all the raves reviews. My next few reads will be a few much anticipated YA novels that I hope deliver.

Stacy: What is your most anticipated soon to be released book?

I have two most anticipated books that I'm yearning for. Blameless, the third book in Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series that will be released on September 1st and Carolyn Crane's sequel to Mind Games, called Double Cross that comes out on September 28th.

Stacy: What's playing nonstop on your iPod rotation right now?

I can't get enough of Lady Gaga! All I listen to is Telephone and Just Dance. I think I have a bad girl crush on her. [See below for some Gaga of a sort :) ]

Stacy: What are your favorite places to visit online?

I'm a total Perez Hilton junkie. I visit his site three times a day. But if we are talking blogs, my top five to visit are The Book Smugglers, Lurve Ala Mode, Kris 'n' Good Books, Smexy Books, Smokin' Hot Books and of course yours! [Well that goes without saying LOL. J/K. Thank you Kate *g*]

Stacy: What are some of your favorite things: beverage? food? t.v. show?

I'm a coffee and pretzel addict to the extreme. Right now my three must watch shows are Burnt Notice on USA, Dexter on Showtime and Mad Men on AMC.

Stacy: Which hottie out there is to die for?

It's a toss up between Ryan Reynolds and Richard Armitage. Hugh Jackman as a backup just in case.

Stacy: Favorite restaurant?

Cheesecake Factory or PF Changs. You leave full and satisfied in ways no other restaurant can. [Love both these places too. Another reason we get along so well].

Stacy: What is your idea of a romantic gesture from your sweetie?

Knowing how I take my coffee and going out of his way to buy me a cup even if I didn't ask. But if he wants to make me dinner, I'm all for that.

Stacy: What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I can read palms and am usually very accurate when I give a reading.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!!!!!

I'm taking this opportunity to give a huge shout-out to one of the most generous, friendly, silly, perverted and caring individuals I've ever gotten the chance to meet online. Kate, affectionately known as Katiebabs, has always been the type of person who makes everyone feel welcome to the party. She's passionate about Richard Armitage, smutty books, and her devotion to her partner in crime (who just happens to be a well-hung sheep), King Mho Fho. And now, our Kate has become a published author! Woo hoo to Kate! Dreams really do come true :)

And I don't know about you, but I'm dying to read this naughty threesomes story ;)

WTG KATE!

Show some love: An Ode to Katiebabs
Photobucket

That Katiebabs. Everytime I turn around she's sending me a book or leaving me a funny comment at my blog or sending out some hilarious email. This week she sent me a book that I really, really wanted, and couldn't even find it in the bookstore for an instant fix. But Katiebabs saved the day. She's such a peach. Srsly, Kate's the real deal.
Sooo, today's post is for a wonderful internet friend that I haven't known for very long, but who really is one of the funniest, most generous and caring people around. She's a bit kooky and has this weird thing about sheep, but to know Katiebabs is to love her. I think those of you who do know her will agree. There's just something so fun about her, and she's got a dirty sense of humor which I get a kick out of. Or is it pervy? Knowing her, it's probably both.

She's always willing to spread a little of her unique joy around, whether it's in mutual admiration of Gerard Butler, obsessing over "Twilight", or basking in her love for Mhiller (although I admit I haven't fully been keeping up with the The interactive amoeba demon sheep round robin story - shame on me.

Kate's true love...
Now I'm not really funny or clever, but one thing that I think I am is sincere, so here's a little tribute to one of my favorite people that I've met online:
******
Kate, Kate, what's to hate?
Not a lot, with what she's got.
She's a redhead who likes to keep
sheep in her bed.
She's quite a writer,
and if you're Gerry or Roarke
she'll ask you to bite her.
She likes tea,
though it makes her pee.
She's got a big smile
that goes on for a mile.
Mhiller's her mate.
They often...date?
I guess that's what you do with sheep,
or maybe they call it fu...bleeeeep!
She works in New York.
But does she like pork?
We may never know,
Kate's not a...'ho!
Though, I don't know.
She could be a 'ho.
Not that that's bad.
Katie is rad.
She Twitters away,
flits through her day.
Trying to make the larvae boobs
go away.
She loves Tropic Thunder,
and that hawt Hugh from Down Under.
She's great friends with Kristie,
sometimes they get misty,
though Kate
can get twisty.
At least that's what I've heard,
cuz of that bird(ie)
who told us the tale
of Kate lovin' on males.
She's all about Rhev from BDB by JR Ward,
but she'd better be careful or
she'll get tied up with some cord.
Though that could be her thing,
we all know how'll she'll swing
as she dishes the dirt,
hey, she's quite the per-vert.
But the truth is we all love her.
There's not many above her,
well that's not all true as there might be a Brother.
One wicked male named Rhev who's thing has a barb.
So she'd better eat a lot of carbs.
She'll need her strength to keep up
with the dirty games he's dreaming up.
Thing is Katie's our girl, we're her biggest fans.
If she were a guy we'd call her our man.
Yeah Katie's the best,
and if put to the test,
she'd get my vote
as someone worthy to note.
So that's why I'm writing this ode
to Katiebabs our dear friend,
whose generosity and caring
never seems to end!
Thank you so much Katie
for all that you do.
If there's now a smile on my face,
it's all cuz of YOU!
*****
So from the heart Kate, I wanted you to know how freakin' awesome I think you are, how crazy, funny and amazing, and how I am happy as hell to have a friend like you :) This poem totally sucks, but it comes from the heart, and I hope you have a rockin' weekend. Same goes to the rest of my blogging friends.
