Anyone who knows me, knows I'm pretty bad about accepting and giving awards - my total bad. But Jackie B. over at Housewife Blues and Chihuahua Stories gave me this sweet award, and I think it's only right that I try my best to pay it forward and share the love :) Now, for the rules! :) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link. Pass the award to other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award. And here are the five awesome blogs I’m going to pass the award to in no particular order:
Go check these blogs out :) Labels: awards

It always amazes me that people take the time to do this, and to include me in the fun. I am horrible when it comes to these things, but I'm trying to mend my ways. No promises, but I'm working on it... This is the Honest Scrap award, and it was presented to me by my new friend, Heather @ Book Obsessed. It is for those bloggers who write from the heart. The rules are to pass it along to seven bloggers and then list 10 honest things about myself. I selected these bloggers as worthy of this award because they always give something back to me. Some of them may not be as well-known, but they are genuine and amazing in their own amazing ways.
In My Own Words: I may not visit everyday, and I don't always comment, but that doesn't mean I don't value your friendship and what you give back, because I do. I keep a lot of things close to my heart, and I don't always share, but I hope this award gives you an idea of how much I treasure you. Online friendships are unique, because you can develop a bond with people you may never meet in person, but I think they are just as important as the friendships in my everyday life. Thank you for all you do. Now there are many, MANY other blogs just as deserving, and I realize that. It's hard to narrow it down to just 7 blogs. So if you're not mentioned, it's not because you're not worthy. You ARE! *g* 10 Things About Me 1. Currently I am addicted to Baja Fresh's fish tacos. Can't get enough of 'em. 2. I love kids but will be okay if I never have any of my own. I'm way too selfish anyway. 3. The older I get, the more I hate flying. 4. I was very baptized. I don't go to church but I do believe in God, very much so. 5. I hate candycorn. It is the worst part of Halloween, imo. 6. I'm really bad at meeting people. It makes me nervous. Total dork here. Nothing personal. 7. I love the smell of gasoline. And a wood fire. Coffee. Lilacs. Freshly cut grass... 8. I love visiting haunted places. Did the Richard T. Crowe tour a few years back. So fun! 9. I love being lazy. I have no problem doing absolutely nothing for long periods of time. 10. I cannot hear Taylor Swift's song "You Belong With Me" enough. I will play it til I hate it. Okay, that's all I've got. I hope you go forth, and share the love...... Labels: awards

The Kreativ rules state that:
Once you receive this award you are to list seven of your favorite things and then nominate seven other blogs.
The lovely and talented Kati nominated me for this fun award, and though I basically suck at award follow-up, she must have had enough faith to figure I'd spread the love, so that's what I'm gonna do.
1. Steak & shrimp. My current favorite meal. I am such a carnivore, and there's nothing like a tender, juicy steak cooked to medium perfection - not too tough, not too bloody. And I love seafood, shrimp especially, whether it's fried or grilled. Yummy. Put them together and you have a divine meal. Add some flavorful wine and it's ambrosia. And while you're at it, why not add a slice of chocolate mousse cheesecake. Might as well, though with all these calories I've eaten for the week.
2. Anne of Green Gables & Anne of Avonlea starring Megan Follows. I could watch this 100 times and not be bored. Watching Anne grow up, and having Gilbert fall in love with her, going off to school and become a teacher herself. Anne's a dreamer with a penchant for getting into mischief, and oh what an amazing character she is. A kindred spirit. Everytime I watch the scene where she's coming home to Green Gables carrying a bouquet of flowers and she sees Marilla, I tear up. Gets me everytime.
3. The midwest. Yeah I bitch about the cold and having to drive in a blizzard but this place owns me. Except for the fact we're living on a fault line that my mother is convinced will erupt any day now, I am quite content with where I live, and though moving might be exciting, I don't think I'd actively try to leave. It's not too much, or too little, but has just enough of everything to make it interesting. Sitting here thinking about it, listening to the cicadas (?) and feeling the warm summer breeze makes me very happy. Then thee's knowing I could go downtown and see Lake Michigan or any of the various historical locations, take the elevator to the top of SEARS Tower (Willis? Huh) and see the amazing view of the city, or go to O'Hare and feel the excited buzz of travelers. I love airports - they've always fascinated me. ORD is one of the best.
4. Faith No More. This was my brother's music, but I developed a strange and inappropriate crush on the very weird and twisted Mike Patton, even though he sounded horrible live, and totally dug 2 of their albums, The Real Thing & Angel Dust, the former so much that I wore it out. Twice. I was obsessed, and those albums are still among my all-time favorites. True, I'm seriously disturbed, but I don't care. I just loved 'em. Obviously I still do.
5. Dawson's Creek. Yeah, I'll cop to this one, especially during the Pacey/Joey years. When he kisses her by the side of the road - swoon. Joey admitting to being attracted to him. Their secret relationship. Dawson finding out. Great tunes in that episode. The "let's spend the summer on a boat" seaon finale. I loved it all. Shamelessly, completely. It's not legendary like BtVS, but it'll do.
6. Bath & Body Works night-blooming jasmine lotion & body spray. I'm wearing it right now, and it's just the thing for warm summer evenings. The scent always puts me in a good mood. Not too strong, lightful floral, not sickeningly so. Rather sensual. Makes me feel pretty.
7. Netflix. I used to be so obsessed with t.v. that I'd watch like 5 + hours a day, so I gave it up for quite a long time, and I missed out on quite a few addictive shows. Now I've decided I can control my addiction, so I've been catching up in the last year or so. Gilmore Girls, House, Carnivale, Entourage are just a few of the shows I've been glomming. It's a cool concept, and I can keep the DVDs for quite some time without incurring late fees. I love it.
Now for the blogs, in no particular order but who probably have received this award at least once already:

Literary Blogger Award :)
The Literary Blogger Award What an honor to be a recipient of this grand award, which acknowledges bloggers who energize and inspire reading by going the extra mile! These amazing bloggers make reading fun, and enhance the delight of reading! A huge thanx to Cecile, who nominated me for this award. What a sweetheart you are :)1) Put the logo on your blog/post.
2) Nominate up to 9 blogs.
3) Be sure to link to your nominees within your post. 4) Let them know that they have been nominated by commenting on their blog.
5) Remember to link to the person from whom you received your award.
And the award goes to....
There are so many awesome bloggers out there, and it wasn't easy to narrow it down, but I chose those inspire me in their own unique way. And while I wanted to nominate every blog I visit, because let's face it, I visit them because I love them so much, well, that would have been way more than 9.
Thanx to bloggers everywhere for creating wonderful places to visit, to make me laugh, think, squee and share my love of reading. You are all a part of my day and make it a brighter, and often times funnier, place. You all rock :) Labels: awards, blogs, friends

Oh but I feel so unworthy.....
Awards are a wonderful thing...usually. I really like getting them...usually. But this time, I'm feeling like Kati really, REALLY shouldn't have. I mean, really, what did I ever do to deserve this? It's truly an honor that I don't know I should accept. Really. However since I'm rather afraid of Little CJ, I'm thinking I will graciously accept this award in the spirit in which it was intended, and pass along the good (?) will. Because really, I rather like my eyes, and being able to see with them, so I'd like to keep them. And I really don't like pain. Not a bit. So I will honor Shannon and Nicola, because I don't know that they've been given the love yet. Labels: awards

Awww! Let's Be Friends Award
I am usually so bad about receiving/giving awards but this time I am going to be a better person. Inspired by Tracy, who gave me this sweet and wonderful "Let's Be Friends" award, I'm going to pass it on to a few of the most amazing friends I've met on the 'net over the last few years. These are the people I get to talk romance with, the ones who let me gush about a book or a hero and who are just lovely, sweet peeps.
"The Let's be Friends Awards stands for this: These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers."
I choose:
*Kati from Katidom - smart, funny, and with a clever way with words, I've been lucky enough to not only know Kati online, but whenever I go to D.C., we try and get together for dinner (and shock the waiters ). Kati has given me many invaluable book recs, and she even loaned me a precious copy of "The Windflower", which I thought was a wonderful story. We're a bit old school, me & Kati. One of my most treasured online friendships. Smooches!
*Katiebabs from Babbling About Books - now who doesn't just love our little Katiebabs? She really IS an eccentric redhead, one with a heart of gold, and a wonderfully dirty mind. Bless her. One thing I admire most about her is that she tries to include everyone, and is all-around a good egg. Plus I just got a whole stack of books in the mail from her, including, squee! "Under Fire" by Jo Davis. Katie totally rocks.
*Lea from Closetwriter - I haven't know Lea for very long, but she always makes a point to stop by and comment, and her blog is fun and inviting (who wouldn't love the best movie kiss contest and all those wonderful vids?). It's one of my daily stops. She just has so much enthusiasm that it's contagious. Definitely someone who inspires me :)
*Barbara from Happily Forever After - Barbara's another one who makes everyone feel welcome and just loves books and it shows. I've really enjoyed getting to know Barbara at her blog, and she makes you feel a part of something wonderful. Plus after a long, grueling day, I like to visit her blog because it reminds me of all the wonder and magic that are out there. Corny, I know, but it really works.
*Tracy from Tracy's Place - Another one of my daily stops. I love how she posts about all those books she reads as well as lets us see into her world and shares a part of her family. Tracy makes it a point to make everyone feel welcome, and she has put up several thoughtful posts that I enjoy. She's also a part-time reviewer for another of my favorite blogs, so I follow her there as well.
*AmyC from Romance Book Wyrm - I just love Amy's blog. It's so warm and inviting and she always has something interesting to post about. Plus I've enjoyed her chapters on a story she wrote. She's very talented. I'm so excited that she's planning to attend Lori Foster's/Dianne Castell's event in June! I can't wait to meet her :)
*Orannia from Walkabout - I've known Orannia for awhile, from her posts at Michelle's Romance Buy the Book, and she's always been encouraging and sweet and really brightens a person's day. She now has her own blog, and it's fun to see the books and topics that interest her. And she lives in New Zealand, where I would love to visit one day. I am fascinated about her side of the world, and what happens there. Orannia is a very interesting person and I'm glad she's a friend.
*Laurie from Laurie's Laudanum - I've known Laurie almost from the first time I started hanging out on the internet and visiting Lori Foster's yahoo group. That's a lot of years, all of them fabulous. She's probably one of the few, yet invaluable, friends I've kept such long online friendship with. We go to all of Lori's & Dianne's events, and she collects troop donations throughout the year, convincing me she is one of God's angels on earth.
I still had more to name, so here's my honorable mentions list:
*KristieJ from Ramblings on Romance, Etc - Kristie is wonderful. She's read romance for a lot of years, and I love her take on what she's read. She shares a lot of her personal stuff with us, which at times has been heart-breaking yet she's always so brave and gracious. And I will be forever indebted to her for "North & South" (BBC version) and "Broken Wings" by Judith James. Kristie is like a one-woman army when she loves something. It's incredible. She inspires me all the time.
*Kelley from Kelley Nyrae - I don't visit Kelley's blog as much as I should, but I've known her for several years and have gotten the chance to see her start out as a reader and blossom into a writer. She's so sweet, a good friend and mom. I know with her determination, she'll go far. I wish her all the best, and hope she'll be at the Foster/Castell event again this year. She reminds me that dreams do come true if you work hard enough.
*Holly, Rowena & Casee from Bookbinge - these 3 ladies are unique, fearless and amazing. All different, but with definite opinions about what they like and don't like. What I like is how each of their personalities shines through. They have a strong love of books but also like to talk about other topics that catch their attention. They are honest, but never cruel. I like how they are willing to take chances, and have helped me push the envelope with my own reading. These ladies are force to be reckoned with.
*Shannon from What Women Read - I am lucky that Shannon lives in Chicago, because I get to go to booksignings with her, go out for wine, and just talk about some of the books that I've loved over the years. This is a huge deal for me, since the majority of my reader friends are all online. I like having Shannon at my beck and call LOL. She's also given me some great UF recs, like Patricia Briggs and Kim Harrison. Shannon's blog is a lot of fun, I just wish she had time to post more. But the girl's got a life, and she lives in an amazing city, so who can blame her.
*Beth Kery & Julie James - two of my new favorite authors. I named them because they are both here in Chicago, I have met them each and have been lucky enough to hang out with them a few times, and because they are both so appreciative of their fans and are willing to listen to what readers have to say. Beth has been reading romance off and on for years, and Julie is fairly new to the genre. I like having discussions that include a writer's POV because I don't always think of things from that angle. I soak it all up like a sponge (albeit one with a faulty memory). If you ever get the chance to meet these ladies, please do so.
So there you have it, I'm sharing the love :) Labels: awards, online friends
