After the holidays.....

Morning all! Hope you survived the holidays :) My Christmas was fun but really low-key; spent it with friends, so it was quiet, but enjoyable. My kinda holidays.

How'd you make out with the gifts this year? I got a lot of giftcards (B&N, AMC movies, etc), and last night I found out I won a Maggiano's $20 giftcard on Twitter, so I made out quite well. My big gift to myself this year was my iPhone, which I got almost 2 months ago, but still consider it a Christmas present. I wanted to get a GPS but maybe next year....

Then I had to get Supernatural on DVD, so I got seasons 1-3, still waiting on season 4. Just can't get enough of those Winchester boys, especially Dean. I love how the series mixes it up with some funny and weird episodes alongside the more serious ones. I also like how they go back in Sam's & Dean's history, not just always going forward. I'm currently watching season 4 from Netflix while I wait (im)patiently for my boys to arrive at my doorstep.

Got a lot read this past weekend, at least a lot for me. Read 3 books - Lisa Kleypas' "Tempt Me At Twilight" (LOVED it); Sherry Thomas' "Delicious" (it was okay, not as sensual and erotic as I'd hoped); and Stephanie Tyler's "Hard To Hold" (loved it), a difficult read but one I couldn't put down. I'm so looking forward to her other books.

Movie-wise, other than Season 4 of Supernatural, I watched a sweet gem called "Bella", which I think I'll be posting the review for tomorrow. It was rather fitting for the spirit of the season.

Last but not least, I know I've mentioned a big contest coming up in just a few short days, and I have really no idea how it's going to go down. I'll think of something, I hope. It's my blog anniversary and I've almost reached 1,000 posts. I'm really excited that I stuck it out so long LOL. And so far, no plans to close up shop any time soon. I'm having too much fun! Thanx for hanging with me :)

So, how were your holidays?

Best gift?

Upcoming holiday contests: the ??? Days of Christmas
Jack here (Sam? Miguel? Alex?) is wishing you the very hottest and sexiest of holidays ;)

Tis the season of giving, and I'm really excited to be running some contests in the month of December, just in time for the holidays. I haven't completely figured it all out, mostly because I'm going to be out of town for a week for work and I won't have access to a computer (which is going to kill me) so I'm trying to get myself in gear before then.

I thought I would tailor the contest to suit my personality and give away prizes of books and DVD's that I like.

Because of my schedule in December I most likely won't be able to get the prizes out by Christmas, but they all will end before December 25th. Besides, isn't it still kinda fun to get gifts AFTER the holidays are over? Yeah, I thought so too *g*

So stay tuned for those contests, and hopefuly you'll enjoy them as much as I know I'm going to :)

What kind of contests are your favorite?

~ And no, you can't have the hottie. He's MINE! ~

UPDATED WITH ANSWERS BELOW....
I blatantly stole this from my pal Laurie. By reading #1 - 29, you have to guess which Christmas carol is being described. The choices are listed at the bottom.

I hope you enjoy it. I'll include the list with the carol names, but the first round is typically played without the assistance of the song names. I'll stop back in a couple of days and post the answers for those who have trouble. Have fun!

Tagged: a 2 for 1 deal
Devonna tagged me, so I said I'd do it. Here goes:
Six Weird Things About Me
1. Sometimes if I really want something (coffee, book, haircut) I get so obsessive that I can't wait a week or even a day to get it. If I have a taste for coffee at 2 am, I will go to Dunkin Donuts. If I want a book, I will be at the store when it first opens. And I've been known to cut my own hair...bad idea. It's this mild case of obsessive-compulsiveness I've got.
2. When I find an author or series I love, I will completely glom it, no matter how many books. I think 12 books is my record. I can't help it - it's that o.c. thing kicking in.
3. I can easily have a crush on many, many guys at one time. I work in customer service so I see people all day long, and yeah, I develop a crush probably at least once a week. They're harmless cuz I'm not a flirt or anything like that, but I feel like such a kid acting this way. I guess I should just shut up and enjoy it.
4. I hate pineapple, but I love pineapple upside-down cake.
5. This is a huge one: if I'm going somewhere (work, party, dinner), I HAVE to take a shower. Not only does it make me feel all nice and clean, it also wakes me up, better than coffee. Plus, a lot of people don't realize it, but I can tell when someone hasn't showered - they smell, and it's not pretty. So yeah, if you wake up in the morning and get dressed without showering, people can tell.
6. I hate driving. I live super-close to work, and I love it. Before I moved back to my office, I worked 4 miles from home. Just 4 miles, and I still had road rage. I know a lot of people who drive 30 or more miles one way - I'd die. I can't stand being in a car that long.
Five Favorite Christmas Songs
1. What Child Is This?
2. Silent Night by Garth Brooks mostly, but I like a lot of versions
3. All I Want for Christmas - Mariah Carey version
4. Baby Please Come Home for Christmas - U2
5. Blue Christmas - Elvis
I'm gonna tag Kelley, Michele, Kate, Laurie, Lori, and Kris

idle chit chat
Not a lot going on lately, just getting into the Christmas spirit. Currently, at 7pm, it's about 61 degrees here in rainy Chicagoland. Unbelievable. Of course it's supposed to snow by Friday, so it's coming. Winter will be here, whether I like it or not.
Finished a TON of Christmas cards. God bless who ever created address labels because they saved me a lot of time! And saved my hand from cramping up too LOL. At last count, I've done about 55, with more to go. I love writing out all those cards. And I weakened and bought 3 boxes of cards - I couldn't help it! They were just so cute, and under $4/box.

Oh, and I finished most of my Christmas shopping. At work, we collect presents for foster kids - you should see it - a huge semi truck of gifts! It's incredible how generous people are. I love participating, and this year, I only chose one girl (instead of the 3 or 4 kids I usually end up getting for) Her name is Ravyn and she's twelve, and I wanted her to have some girly stuff, so I got a bunch of jewelry and a bath and lotion set, and some clothes. Shopping for girls is so much fun; they have much cooler stuff than when I was a girl. I also plan on grabbing a name or two from an angel tree, and I always, always buy books. Need to pass that valuable pastime on.
In other news, it seems that lots of bloggers are M.I.A. lately - Ames, DC, Kristie, Dylan, Devonna, Jen, Kelley, Jodi...unless they're just not visiting me LOL, which could very well be the case. I know I entertain myself, but other people...that's another story. Like I said at Kristie's blog, first a lot of us are suffering through a reading slump, then no one's blogging....it's like we're all on the same monthly cycle or something.
Maybe this will provide us all with a little inspiration.....
