My favorite black and white movie is Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and William Holden. I love old black and white movies and anything with Audrey Hepburn in it is just a bonus!
by Lori T 6:43 AM, December 05, 2008Yes, that is a great cover!!
ok, that is a HOT cover. mmmm.
by sula 7:18 AM, December 05, 2008Favorite black and white movies...oh, so hard to choose because there are tons of great ones. For sentimental purposes, you can resist Jimmy Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life"? Or the romance of "Casablanca"? But I think I may just have to go with the witty, funny and romantic comedy "The Philadelphia Story", because anytime you can get Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart AND Cary Grant together in one film, it's destined for greatness. *g*
I am going with a holiday movie with March of the Wooden Soldiers. I have to watch that movie every holiday season :D
by KT Grant 7:25 AM, December 05, 2008Ooh, I've actually seen this book a few times and loved the cover.
by Anonymous 8:12 AM, December 05, 2008Ok, my favorite B/W movie is undoubtedly, Casablanca.
"Here's lookin' at you, kid." *wink*
Some of my favoirte black and white movies that are really cheesy and funny are the Tarzan movies with Johnny Weissmueller.
by Kara 8:35 AM, December 05, 2008Believe it or not - but I have never seen Casablanca. That sounds like a good one to get this Christmas when I am curled up at night wanting to watch something other than Christmas specials.
Can I still enter, even if I don't really like black and white movies? I am unfortunately a big explosion/killing type movie person.
by Anonymous 9:01 AM, December 05, 2008Natasha A.
My favorite black and white movie is The Philadelphia Story. I love Cary Grant movies. Some of my other favorites are It Happened One Night, Harvey, and the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice.
by Lori Ann 9:23 AM, December 05, 2008K, going out on a limb here.. Young Frankenstein, LOL!! Does that say too much about my personality?
by Lori 9:32 AM, December 05, 2008If you're talking about movies from the black and white era, though, wow.... Oh, Lori T picked a good one with Sabrina, and who doesn't love Casablanca and It's a Wonderful Life?
Stace - With my known dislike of the "ha-ha" romance, would I like this book? If you think so I'll pick it up, but you know how hesitant I am about funny romance.
by Kati 10:18 AM, December 05, 2008Favorite B&W movie? His Girl Friday. But African Queen and Casablanca run a very close second.
My favorite black and white movie would be It's a Wonderful Life.
by Mandy 10:26 AM, December 05, 2008It's A Wonderful Life and The Maltese Falcon.
by CrystalGB 10:28 AM, December 05, 2008Here's a classic: Streetcar Named Desire, with Marlon Brando.
by Nicola O. 11:45 AM, December 05, 2008Is it my fave? well, I probably like Casablanca better, but the list was starting to get a little boring!
My favorite black and white movie is "The Major and The Minor" starring Ginger Rogers and Ray Milland. I love screwball comedies. "To Be Or Not To Be" is another favorite.
by Jane 1:04 PM, December 05, 2008Finnish film, "Katariina and the Count of Munkkiniemi".
by Minna 1:05 PM, December 05, 2008From Here to Eternity
by Tracy 1:17 PM, December 05, 2008My favorite black and white movie is Adam's Rib. Any movie with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn is terrific!
by Susan 1:58 PM, December 05, 2008Gosh, I have so many! Miracle on 34th Street, An Affair to Remember, It's a Wonderful Life, Splendor in the Grass, Where the Boys Are, and Jane Eyre immediately come to mind. I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them at the moment
by Dev 4:02 PM, December 05, 2008Oh! See I knew I forgot one. Teacher's Pet (Doris Day/Clark Gable) ~ okay, since I mentioned Clark Gable I have to list Gone with the Wind.
by Dev 4:04 PM, December 05, 2008I'm a big kid, but the original Miracle on 34th Street is one of my favorite movies ever. I also love From Here to Eternity. I mean that scene on the beach, you can't not love it!
by Unknown 5:07 PM, December 05, 2008Happy Holidays!
Cute cover!! My favorite B&W movie is the Bells of St. Mary's with Bing Crosby (I love his voice).
by Kris 11:45 PM, December 05, 2008Oh and another that some one else mentioned that i have not seen in ages that i loved is The Major and the Minor, fun movie.
There's a Pride & Prejudice movie made in the 1940's based on Jane Austen's book with Sir Laurence Oliver! Its one I have watched a few times and a favorite! I really enjoy watching older movies, especially the historicals and the westerns. We recently got a John Wayne one that my hubby likes to watch and now I'm hooked on them too!
by Caffey 11:59 PM, December 05, 2008Book sounds great!!! Love to be in the contest. Thanks.
Miracle on 34th Street is one, Rebecca, and To Kill a Mockingbird another. But I can't just stop there.
by Sue A. 3:45 AM, December 06, 2008Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Arsenic and Old Lace, Roman Holiday and anything else with James Stewart or Cary Grant. And I never get to see those old Tarzan movies I love anymore with Cheetah and Jane. The original Jungle Book with Sabu was great too.
Some Like it Hot
by Shannon 12:59 PM, December 06, 2008It's a Wonderful Life
Schindler's List (ok ok, I know it is not an old classic, but I just love it)
Sabrina is my #1 favorite.
by Julie in Ohio 2:05 PM, December 06, 2008However, Roman Holiday is a very close second.
Since it's christmas I will have to go with It's a Wonderful Life. Although I like many of the older classic movies when I am in a nastalgic mood.
by Barbara 8:21 PM, December 06, 2008To Kill a Mockingbird...hand's down. Though I have to admit that 99% of my all-time favorite movies are movies made before 1960. :) My parents were big believers of the classics. Alfred Hitchcock, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck. *sigh*
by Bridget Locke 2:02 AM, December 07, 2008One of my favorite romances is Roman Holiday. I'm not a big Audrey Hepburn fan (I know, it's sacrilige), but I love that movie. Gregory Peck was an unbelievably beautiful man. :D
Oh the hotness that is this cover! Um my fave black and white is It Happenned One Night with Clark Gable. I watched it way back when I was on my GWTW phase and it has stuck with me all these years. They just don't write them like that anymore.
by Gigi 9:42 AM, December 07, 2008I'm not entering the contest or anything (it's over anyway) but I had to say that I absolutely LOVE the cover as well...I'm such a big fan of this book!
by Rowena 8:11 PM, December 07, 2008I don't really have a favorite black and white movie because I don't really like old movies (I know, surprised?)
